How do you procrastinate on doing your workouts?

BAM

Cathlete
So I'm going to be doing Chest & Back and Legs & Shoulders. There is NO dread factor here but I keep finding something else to do instead. I put in the DVD and then decided to arrange some of my other DVD's. Then I went downstairs to get something from the fridge. Then I was thinking since it's a nice rainy day, to watch a movie and make some popcorn and workout after.....yeah, right! :p Now, I'm posting this instead of chest pressing. There are some days that I dive right in, and then there are days like this. Do any of you do this also? I know I am going to work out and will really get into it once I get going but geesh, why prolong the inevitable? I mean it's only been an hour since I was actually going to start working out. :+ O.K., I'm flexing my Cathe induced bicep to get me motivated. Hopefully I WON'T be back for awhile! }( Thanks for listening and letting me add another 5 minute delay. ;) :)

Hey Bam-
I once spent an entire day making index cards of all my workouts and sorting by type.... took so long DH went to bed and so I couldnt work out and I actually told him next day that it was an unplanned off day thanks to him!

Traci, at least you were working on an exercise related project and since it was an all day event, you were doing a long and slow endurance workout. How does that sound? lol }(

Can you tell I still haven't worked out? I'm going for good now.......well, maybe. :p

I procrastinate by checking the Cathe board and posting responses!

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow - what a ride!’ — Peter Sage

I am with Sparrow on this one...I am procrastinating right now! I have my workout clothes on, but just haven't gotten downstairs to do HSC.

I don't procrastinate anymore. I know what my goal is and I keep looking towards that goal to keep me going. I look at what I have planned for the next day(errands) , and work them around my workout. I like to do my errands in the morning and get them over w/. I am alone all day for 6.5 hours so it's not hard for me to get my workout in. I am currently doing a rotation and it is helping dramatically. I have had a 31 pound weight loss in the last 47 days. I just broke through my first plateau. :) I have to stay motivated or else I will wind up sitting around, drinking Dr. Pepper and eating pop tarts. No way will I ever go back to that.:) There were 1 or 2 days where I didn't feel good so I chose an easier workout.

Congratulations on your incredible weight loss! Must have been some rotation you followed! What were you doing?

I honestly think that cleaning up my eating has helped a lot. I currently only have 1 Cathe in my rotation. The rest are firms (some buns of steel) and the goal is to look lean and toned. I do 3 firm tapes a week and 3 days of cardio. Abs are done 5-6 times a week. I recently purchased core max on ebay and I love it. The stability ball scares me, I feel like I'm gonna fall off so right now I stick w/ core max 1. I don't eat after 5:30 and I had changed from pop tarts to plain graham crackers to snack on w/ lots of fruit. As I loose more weight I will post in the success story forum. A member on these boards set up the rotation and I am on my second time doing it. I previewed all the workouts in the rotation and took notes on the order of exercises done and what #age I was going to use. Any lower body exercises are done w/ either no weight or 3-5 pound dumbbells. Lots of reps.:)

Bam,

When I set my workout space up. It takes a long time, and keep forgetting to do something. But once it's all set up, watch out!

The only way I don't procrastinate is to keep to a schedule and stay busy. The busier I am, the less procrastination I can afford. When I have the time, I spend a lot of it thinking about when I'm going to work out. I spend more time thinking about working out, then doing it!

It's nice to know I'm not alone. :7 Isn't it amazing how we delay doing something sometimes that we truly love to do because of the results but the process to get there can be very long, lol.

Dhcsim, what you're doing is absolutely amazing! Congratulations on your accomplishment. One thing, though, you make it sound like drinking Dr. Pepper and eating Pop Tarts are a bad thing. }( :p

Dianna, I especially love your "drinking wine" way of procrastinating. That works for me along with "thinking" about working out, lol.

<<<I spend a lot of it thinking about when I'm going to work out. I spend more time thinking about working out, then doing it!>>> Deana, this is just like me too! I lay in bed at night constantly thinking about different workouts. Since the mind and body are connected, I'm wondering if I'm building muscle as I'm thinking about GS Legs......hmmmmmmmmmmmm, lol. :+
