I'm trying to not restrict, yet not binge, and I'd like to see how the majority of us Catheites handle our 'treat' days. Thanks!

For the past week and a half I've totally abstained from eating starchy carbs or sweets! I get my carbs from vegies and fruit only.I feel awesome! I also am no longer needing those treats I used to. I've tested myself by baking cookies for the children and even took them to McDonald's and I didn't take one single nibble!! I was so happy!
I used to allow myself 1 or 2 treats a day however! Susan

I cheat on the rare occasions when something truly unique is available. Usually it isn't worth it, so I dont do it every day, every week, or any of your choices, I do it occasionally, probably a couple of times a month, but it's not regular. For example, I was just in Key West, so I had Cuban food (fattening) and Key Lime Pie.

I do allow myself a piece of dark chocolate ( 1/4 ounce ) with my espresso and light whipped cream
every morning, and if I feel like having a bite of something rich I will...a bite. Otherwise, I really
try to eat well and often ( 5-6 small meals a day).

I can't cheat. I can't tell myself I'll just have "just one taste" of ice cream, for example, because then I obsess over the whole carton.

Once I started low-carbing I stopped eating sugar and white flour and my sugar cravings stopped! So it's not difficult to live without cheating.

I don't use artificial sweeteners, either, except in those rare times when nothing else is available. Like last night, when I had diet soda because I was thirsty but didn't want water. Normally, I won't drink soda at all (except for club soda).

Hiya Jillybean! (I LOVE to write that name!!!!)

I'm not sure how to answer your question because I don't really like the idea of food treats or cheating. Food is just food - healthy eating is a matter of balance and removing the emotion from eating.
I choose to eat foods that are not highly processed or packaged because I definitely feel better and have more energy...but I don't want to put a guilt trip on myself if the only food available is fritos and dip. (...been there, done that!)

I almost always stay away from packaged foods but allow flexibility.

I'd like to add that I didn't always see food and eating this way - 40lbs and over four years ago! But I'm a different person now!

I sure hope this makes sense and doesn't sound in any way like I'm preaching. It's just that food issues and I go way back! LOL!
