Well, I hop on the old dreaded scale once a week. I don't think of Mr. Scale as my enemy, I think of him as my reality check. Most successful big weight losers who keep weight off weigh themselves at least once a month. It's all in how you look at it and how you personally want to proceed. What works for some ain't gonna work for all, so I certainly am not going to verbally lash anyone who chooses not to own a scale or get on it if they own one.
Just a suggestion - there's books out there on what successful weight maintainers do to keep weight off - please investigate them. There are universal tricks that really work, which is why Weight Watchers is so successful.
