how do you boil egg whites?

Sorry for the dumb question. I've been searching the web and I found great recipes using boiled egg whites but doesnt really tell how to do it. One recipe calls for boiling entire egg, separating the yolk and using it at another time. I have egg whites in the container. I usually pan fry them or bake them in the mini quiche recipe. I'm looking for another way to prepare them.

I look forward to your responses. Thanks.

Carmen.

Carmen,

I saw the title and thought "She has to be kidding." :)

Then I read your post. Pre-separated egg-whites! USA continues to astonish me. You can get eggs in containers and just the part you want.

You could try poaching scoop fulls. That is the closest to boiling I can think of. You will have to wait a bit for scoop 1 to set before you put scoop 2 in the boiling water so it doesnt make one big glob.

My husband likes his egg whites beaten and cooked in an open glass bowl in the microwave. It tastes similar to an omlette but has a unique texture.

The trouble with substituting for boiled egg-whites is that boiled egg-whites taste good cold, but other ways of cooking eggs are best served hot.

I dont eat eggs anymore. They are the only food I miss from turning vegetarian.

Sorry that wasnt much help, was it?

Maybe some help, but certainly amusing, Vee! Those crazy Americans with their egg whites in a carton! :)

Vee - I figured folks may think I was joking in the subject line. I found a small pan for pouching eggs. I think I might be able to do something in that. Thanks for your reply.

Carmen.

Pour the egg white liquid in small glass dishes or ramkins. Place these in a pan. Fill the pan with water up to the egg white substance. The heat from the water will cook the eggs. The dishes will be very hot!

If you have a microwave, it is much easier and faster. Here's how.

Take a small dish/ramkin or small bowl (I use glass bowl). Spray the bowl with oil on the bottoms and sides. Scramble 4 egg whites and pour into the bowl. Place in microwave full power for 4 min. Take out and slide onto your dish.

Makes a great meal. Add anything else, toast... on the side. You can even put vegies in with the egg whites before you cook, just make sure you add a little more time to it.

That's it, enjoy,

Janie
