Hey everyone, I'm a new one. . .I've posted a few times and am so thankful this is here to see what others are feeling. I'm the first of my girlfriends to be pregnant and all I have to rely on are books. My mom, and mother in law aren't much help and all they tell me is the same old stuff. . I like HONESTY!! I'm sure you'll get a kick out of this my mother in law even tried to tell me she only gained 10 pounds with my husband!! =) She even feels the need to repeat it every time I see her. . her way of saying "boy your getting fat" it's just too bad I saw pictures of her when she was pregnant. . .it was more like 30-40! =)

Enough of the complaining. . .I wanted to know how everyone on here does so well. I'm 16 wks and have put on aboout 12 pounds despite working out at least 4 days a week and keeping a decent diet. .not great but decent. I'm 5'5 and am 145. I know I've put on quite a bit and that makes me nervous but I feel as if I have no control of it anymore, and I must ask where does the butt cellulite come from, because it wasn't there 6 months ago?!?!
If you have any motivational suggestions or workout rotations I'd very much so appreciate it. I run 2 days a week 3.5 miles, weight train 2-3 days and then either take a spin or an aerobics class 1-2 days a week depending, but my energy levels are still low, so I find it hard to do workouts at home like I used to LUUUUUVE!!! Now I have to go to the gym or I'm sit my plump butt down and say TOMORROW!! Please help with anything!! And again I cant tell you how much I love this and having all of you to see what to expect. Thank you!

Congratulations!!!and try not to worry too much. Everybody gains weight differently during their pregnancy. Some women gain a lot in the beginning and some gain at the end. My weight gain has always matched the amount of weeks pregnant I am. I have gained 36 lbs. thus far and I have worked out until recently and had pretty good eating habits. I gained the exact same amount of weight with my 1st as well. Your body knows what it is doing and your workouts sound great. Keep us posted

Welcome and congratulations! I second what Mary said, weight gain will be different. It also depends on what you weighed before you got pregnant and how your body stores and deposits fat. I am 38 weeks and up until last week had only gained 17 lbs but in the past week have gained like 5! Your body knows what its doing and with you working and out and not going crazy on your eating you should be fine!!! I have the exact opposite of you- my mom has been nagging me the whole time saying I haven't gained ENOUGH weight b/c she gained 70 lbs with me (YIKES!!!!!!!!!!) and that I don't need to be working out when I am 9 months pregnant!:D I ride my bike/walk 5-6 days a wk, and do weight training 4-5 times a week (although the past week hasn't been so great since contractions have started!x( )
Also about your energy, I was drained all the time until about 3 1/2 months and then I was fine until about 36-37 weeks so don't worry, the energy will pick up!
Again, welcome, and sorry so long!!!!!!:p

Welcome and Congrats!!! It doesn't matter what you gain cuz that sweet thing is all worth it. You are a healthy fit person and will lose every pound gained. Sometimes you just gain without any control. Your body puts on what it needs to house a healthy baby and that's what's most important. It cracks me up when people say "I only gained...." Obviously they didn't need to put on much. I'm a tiny person and I gain when prego. If you read through the forum there are sooooooooooo many suggestions and individual stories. Everyone on the forum will be like okay we heard this, but I'm a tiny person and gained 45 pounds with my first. 45 pounds, I never thought possible!!!! It takes people forever to lose that kind of weight, but it was pregnancy weight, kinda different especially when you're a super active person. I lost all of it and more in 6 months, I was thinner than pre preg, which is quite small. This time around I'm not gaining as much but that's because on top of working out I'm chasing my 1 year old all day. But the cellulite come just because you are carrying mid region and it pushes on your butt and legs making it look like cellulite, but it'll go away after. What's important, although not easy, is to let go of how you look cuz you're going to LOOK pregnant;-) All of us here have been through it.
Hey, if you want ice cream or french fries, this is the time to indulge, you don't have to worry about your stomach not being flat after you eat!
Anyway, I hope this helps so you don't freak out:7 :7
Everyone here is so awesome with advice. Good luck and have fun!

hi there

i second and third what curly and mary and heather have said. i had a really hard time "letting go" at the start of my pregnancy. this is my first, and i felt like my body was out of control - adding fat and carves and stuff i am not used to. these girls really helped me realize while i was out of control of myself, the baby was in total charge and was getting waht he needed. i gained a lot initially - 10-12lbs my first trimester. since then my ewnergy has returned and my weight has leveled off a bit. once i felt better physically and felt as though i looked pregnant instead of pudgy, things fell into place. staying active helps so much emotionally. i feel more level and less hormonal, which is such a blessing. i pretty much do things i did before i was pregnant except i did have to stop running due to back pain. do what feels comfortable for your body. low max, step blast, and kick punch crunch are especailly fun. i also still spin, and that is quite comfortable.

as curly said, it will all be worth it to have a teny tiny baby. i am so excited for you.

I was worried that this pregnancy I would gain too much. By 22 weeks, I had gained about 18 pounds but my weight gain slowed and at time of delivery weight gain was only 21.5 pounds despite my constant eating. My advice, keep with the workouts, eat before you get hungry, limit the sweets(but eat them in moderation ) and whatever you gain is what your body needed.
