How can you tell u have "STRONG" abs?

I work religiously on "core" but I cant say I have the "definition" look yet, but my tum is definatly more stream lined now I understood about how certain foods make me bloat for hours (those foods I really try hard to avoid!)

BUT how can I tell if they are STRONG!

Is it the "difinition" look or how long you can hold a "plank" or what?

Thanks

:)

RE: How can you tell u have

for me, it's how strong i feel in everyday life. when i pick things up, etc. also my balance. and also my running. i run 30 miles/week and my running has improved greatly since doing more core work. i don't go so much by the "6-pack" i go by how strong i feel. and yes, how long i can hold those planks and the pikes in pyramid upper body. love those!!!

RE: How can you tell u have

I agree, balance work is a great test of core strength and stability. I feel the strength in my core when I mis-step and have the core strength to prevent a fall, comes in very handy during winter when the sidewalks get icey, now that's functional fitness!:)

Personally, I couldn't care less how strong my abs are as long as they look good. }(

RE: How can you tell u have

I can tell my abs have gotten stronger over the years because I can lift myself from a lying flat position to on my feet without having to use my hands or anything to get up. Does that make sense? Like when the alarm goes off in the morning, I can "fly" out of bed to go and turn it off. When I was preggers or recovering from being preggers, I would have to use my hand to push myself up. Hope that makes some sense! :) Renee

When I can complete all the reps in the ab segment of PUB with a 5 lb weight (I don't have a stability ball). Those kill me!
