How can I unbury the abs?

I am convinced I need advice on my diet to unbury my abs since I work them to fatigue, I can tell they are strong and I do 6 days of cardio (cardio junkie). My abs are flat but I have that "thin layer" that I am getting very impatient with. Right now, I am eating roughly 30% fat, 30% protein and 40% carbs (healthy fats, healthy proteins and healthy carbs). My diet is pretty darn clean. Should I change those percentages? Should I lower calories? If so, by how much without shutting down my metabolism?
 
How many calories a day? Could you drop that number by 100 and still be eating at least 1400-1500? If not a drop in total numbers, you may try to drop your fat down to 20% and raise your protien to 40%.
 
I know that what I do isn't for everyone, but you could try dropping your calories to 1200 a day, and work your AB 2 times a day for 15 to 20 minutes......
You wouldn't have to drop your calories long, just until you get where you want, then up them so you don't lose anymore.
And you don't have to work your AB twice a day for long, just till your happy and then go back to the way you were doing them....

I am doing Freestyle there fore I do my ABS everyday, like I said this isn't for everyone... But I wasn't able to wear my 2's last week and now I can, by next week the will fit perfect:7
