Hot 40's - week of 7/17/11

Good Evening,

Tonite I did KCMs Split Sessions Upper Body. Its still hot outside.

Ronne-I love the fact that we don't have children at home anymore so DH and I get alot of alone time when he is not out of town.

I don't know if the heat is getting to me or what. I just finished HR and I am spent. Cahte has really been kicking my butt lately, more so than usual. Maybe I need to rotate the dvd's more. Well, now that I think more about it, maybe it is a combo of both. I have been doing the HiiT, Intensity and now HR dvd's and it is humid in the morning - that usually does not make a good combo. Oh well...

Hi girls! Today did upper body from HR. Murphy, you have been working out hard this week! The heat and humidity are very draining! Well, got all the garbage out of the basement, now it just stinks! All the dampness in this humidity is just, I don't know, festering? Lisa, that would be fun to be swimming in ice cubes! Ronne, where will you go this weekend? We have a date scheduled for Sat. I am excited to get away from the children for a bit! Roxie, how many kids do you have? Have a good day, Mary

Hi all

Mary - sorry to hear about your basement. You're not having much luck lately are you? Hope you managed to rescue some stuff. Enjoy your night out on Sat. Do you know what you're doing yet?

Lisa - how funny about your son.

Murphy - you've been working out hard recently - no wonder Cathe's been kicking your butt, you're doing all the tough ones!

Roxie - hang in there - just think about the cool pool!

I did Supersets today. Taking it a bit easier at the moment. Well, my quiet period has suddenly come to an end. I've done nothing for two weeks and I'm going to have four deadlines to complete in just under two weeks! And just as DD finishes school as well. Oh well, then it looks like I'll be off for the whole of August so just got to push through the next couple of weeks!

Good Morning,

I had planned on doing KCMs Plyo Blast but after the morning I am having it looks like it will be KBXing instead. Its suppose to be the hottest day of the week today.

Mary-I have 2 DDs and 1 SIL the girls are 25, and 23. The oldest has been married for 3 years they are trying to have a baby but she is have problems with cysts right now.

I ended up doing nothing yesterday, I think I needed the break. Today I did 4DS Total UB premix, I even got in 30 min later to work, I need a bit of a break at work as well, so forced myself to be later and work on ME! I also realized that MAYBE my workout area may be cooler IF I had opened the vent to it! It's opened now, so we'll see :)

Ronne, another funny kid story. DS22 is out of town on business (his first business trip), he didn't get in until 11:30 pm and he thought it prudent to text me and wake me up telling me he got in ok. I hope he doesn't think he has to do this from now until the end of time! but it is a sweet gesture but it interrupted my sleep!

Murphy, at times I find Cathe to be harder too and I hate when that happens! but at times I amaze myself! So maybe you need a little break? I sometimes think it's the AGE factor at times too (seems I need more recovery time)

Mary, how fun to have a date night. I'm thinking DH and I will take off even in the heat because the next hike I want to do is up IN the mountains so 10 degrees cooler. In fact the next hike I want to get to the top of a 14,000 ft peak. It's on my bucket list :)

Roxie, talked to DH last night, Omaha heat is killing him, I don't know how you do it!

Of to work, seems Ronne and I had our lag time and busy time at same time, can I also have the month of August off? In Spain no less? PLEASE?

Mary - have you tried a dehumidfier in your basement? It may help. We use one in ours and I am always amazed at how much water it pulls out of the air. That bucket has filled up more than once on some days. We also use one in our closed in sunroom. There is a leak somewhere and it gets wet. The dehumidifier really helps.

Roxie - good luck to your daughter.

Hi all,
Can I join your check in? I'm just getting back into my Cathe w/o after 2 years, I've also gained poundage- I'm working on that, too via WW. So I am sort of a re-beginner. My workout area is newly set up (recent moves) and I've gathered enough equipment to be dangerous.

I am doing CTX series right now. I've had it for years, but didn't use it b/c I had no patience for slowing down to learn new w/o. Starting over is a gift in some ways because now I can get really cardio challenged even when I have to stand there and scratch my gluteus maximus during the w/o trying to figure out what is going on, lol.

I'm in my 40's and i have two at home teens and two corgis. Is this a good check in for me? Thanks, Jody

Welcome Jody,

I just joined this check in less then a month ago an these ladies are just what I needed because we are all close to the same age and have the same struggles. I haven't been doing a lot of Cathe but starting next month I will be.

Have you melted yet Roxie? I went for about 1 mile walk through all the buildings and I was sweating (not even walking fast). I hate it when your bra gets all soaked at the band and the padding absorbs the sweat. did you all like that visual?

Welcome Jody, come on, spill your exact age! I'm turning 47 in less than a month (not sure where all the time went, seems I was just 42 when I joined this group). I have 2 boys, 19 and 22, the 19 yr old is in college (home for summer) and the 22 just moved into an apartment with his fiance (I'm learning to accepting her) and just landed his first electrical engineering job out of college. I have a 18 yr old cat that require 2 pills a day of supplements and is blind and has no idea where she is peeing. I had a sheltie for 13 yrs and had to see her to the rainbow bridge. I do not like seeing animals through to old age. I vow never to have another animal again. Welcome to the group!

Good Evening,

Tonite I did KCMs KBXing and it helped relieve some stress.

Jody-I am about to turn 46 I have a almost 26 year old daughter and she is married they are in the process of trying to get pregnant but she has PCOS so it will be hard and my youngest daughter is 23 not married but lives with her boyfriend.

Lisa-yes I am melting and I to hate having my bra get soaked and feeling sweat run between my boobs.

Thanks for the friendly welcome! LOL, I'm 48 to be exact. My two girls are 15 and 18, both learning to drive and attending college this fall. I'm looking for new full time work, I've moved 3 times in the past year but am happily settled in my townhouse now. Regarding bras, ya know how you have to get the girls settled just right in the sports bra or else you end up with Picasso boobs? - ha, a term my dtr coined for me.

Lisa, bummer about the pet probs. I can relate. My corgis are nearly 11 and one of the two just had her leg amputated because of a tumor on her foot. She's been a tri paw for about 5 weeks now. She's super good dog but I am still shaking my head over the bill.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone. Sorry it is so hot! It is hot here in FL, too, but my w/o area is inside. Today I did CTX 10 10 10 --> CTX Power Circuits, back, abs and triceps and I've just gotten home from dance class.

Have a good night all~ Jody

lol Jody! My girls aren't so big they kinda stay where they are. I was mortified when I lost my weight that I had barely A's! Unfortunately they grew a bit (along with the rest of me), working to get weight off, again, sigh, shooting for 5 lbs, would like 10, 15 would put me where I was but I don't think it's doable right now.

Roxie, Ugh that dripping between the boobs, YES, I work in an open area and after coming back from my walk 2x a day at work (almost 1 mile each time), I have that, sometimes I try to nonchalantly stick a tissue up under my shirt to wipe it. Again, they have it so hot at work so you know what, if someone sees and doesn't like it, TOUGH!

Jody, aw, poor tri-paw. My sheltie broke her leg at 6 yrs and turned out it was broke before when she was a puppy (prev owner never told us), the bones would not fuse, poor thing had at least 5 surgeries and months of frustration. Finally when we thought we may have to amputate, the vet called Colo Stat University by us (big vet school there), and they said the 2 different medals from the 2 pins could cause the bones not to fuse. So another surgery to dig (and vet said he had to dig hard) to get the first pin out. It worked! But she did have a limp but it never affected her, walked 4 miles a day. It probably bothers you more than her, these animals are tough! Where in FL are you? I was born and raised in Tampa, moved to Co 25 yrs ago, mountains are more my speed than the beach (I've had basal cell carcinomas).

Whew, I better shut up and get to bed. DH comes back tomorrow, I bet he'll be glad for CO heat over that Omaha heat!

I took it easy today. I did part 1 of core max and part 1 of stretch max. As you know, Cathe has been kicking my butt so I thought I would take things down a notch. Plus, at 6 am, it was 79 degrees in my house. WTH?

Roxie - my DH would be having a fit in that heat. It does not like heat at all. I can handle it better but that is hot. I am sending cool wind vibes your way.

Jody - welcome aboard. I too am in WW. I am loving the new plan.

Murphy

Lisa, What part of Tampa? I grew up in Tampa area, too (Riverview) but I am in Palm Beach County now. I may head over there for a 30 yr class reunion next month...

So a couple of you are out in CO/OK/KS/NE area? I lived near OKC in Y2K. I guess the heat doesn't bother me as much. I took my girls camping one Aug when the temps were reaching 100+ everyday for a week or so, sounds like what you are having now. There was a creek and a waterfall there and the park was almost completely empty during the week. I had so much fun turning over rocks in the creek, finding new critters, and swimming under the fall. I would have loved to see CO when I was out there.

Murphy, I am doing the WW check in here on Cathe, too. I am going to a real mtg today and get the new materials. I think I will be free, b/c I am lifetime and technically under my goal wt, maybe a missed meeting fee? I haven't been in years. We'll see.

Have a great day and greetings to all.

Oh wait, fitness goal today is CTX KB and tricep. I might sub or add on to the cardio since I don't really like KB, but I am trying to keep an open mind and not treat it like Lima Beans.

Hi ladies

Welcome on board Jody!

Big apologies for the flyby posting today. Just ran out of time. DD just finished school for summer, work has gone nuclear and parents are arriving in 15 mins!!
Did 40/20 today - best value workout when short on time!!
Off to sweep a floor!
More tomorrow, I hope.

I ran 5.5 miles today using the Cardio Coach press play audio workout. These audio workouts are the ONLY way I can run! :)

Jody, I grew up in Brandon and graduated Brandon High School in 1982. I hated the heat in FL, so when I met my DH through work (IBM) I was happy to move to CO to be with him. In our younger days we skiied a lot, lately our knees aren't holding up so well so this summer I've been hiking the front range mountains quite a bit with either my DH or BFF.

Ronne, wow, you are busy! 40/20 is no easy workout either so you got a lot of bang for your buck!

Murphy, you deserved an easy day, the heat is going your's and Mary's way.

Oh, let me see if I can summarize where everyone is at: Me- CO, Roxie, KS, Mary - OH, Murphy - NJ, and our exotic Ronne we are all jealous of - LONDON!

Hi girls! Today did KCM plyo, only because is was quick and she takes longer breaks than Cathe! Ronne, 40/20? I avoid that one! Bet your DD is excited for school to be done! Welcome Jody! Nice to have you join us! I am 46, married, 3 tweens, and work part time. Lisa, I'll bet DH is glad to come home! I hope you guys avoid this heat. It is 86 in the house right now, the air can't be put in for at least 2 weeks!? They are busy. Murphy, we do have a dehumidifier, I think with the heat and humidity, it can't keep up! We are going to borrow one of those large industrial fans to maybe dry it out. Roxie, I am melting with you! Have a good day, I think we are going to go and find a pool! Mary
