Horribly sensitive shins

Why do I have this? For years and years...if you touch my shin bone straight on with the slightest pressure, it causes excrutiating pain! The muscle right next to it running up the front of the shin is very well defined without any special strenth moves focusing on them. My calves have been gigantic since high school! I take vitamins every day and make sure I get calcium through dairy. Why are my shin bones so sensitive??

i am curious about this too! mine are very sensitive as well. whenever i get a massage i have to tell them to skip that part cause it really hurts!

Have you done any research on shin splints? Ideally, you are dealing with shin splints. That is not fun, but with treatment and some activity modifications, you can get rid of them. (Like if you are a runner, don't run downhill, and always make sure you are running heel, ball, toe instead of all toe-impact.) However, since it has been years and years, you might be dealing with a stress fracture. I have had both injuries and the stress fracture required me to take some serious time off. One other thing to look up on the net might be compartment syndrome. Your initial description sounds more like shin splints or stress fracture to me.
Best wishes!

Well, any time I have had shin splints, it would hurt during activity. I am never in any pain during my workouts...don't feel the shins at all. It is just when any pressure is applied to the bone.

I never noticed it until I had kids and they would try to sit on my shin while stretching or if we were playing and they leaned on my lower leg a certain way.

It's in both legs, and it's the entire length of my shin. It's not the side part of the bone, it's the very front seam, knee to ankle.

I guess I never bothered to ask my useless doctor. I never think about it unless the kids lean on me just so...
