horrible event

Dear Dana
I'm so sorry. I'm a nurse and have come across my share of accidents and helped but have never actually witnessed one in the making. It's definitely something you should consider seeing a therapist about to help you process.
My prayers are w/ you and your 4 yr. old.

Let me add my voice to the above post. PTSD can have long-term effects if not dealt with as soon as possible after the trauma. If you deal with the horrible thing you witnessed asap, you will be able to find peace at some point. Good luck and hugs to you.

That is just horrible. Thankfully your son didn't see anything. Bless his heart that he was so concerned for the man. I'm so crazy about seatbelts. My kids know I won't move the car until I hear the clicks. I have to work on my dh, however.

This is nothing near what happened to you, but my daughter and I about 2 years ago were going to get up do's for a wedding we were in. So, I decided to stop and get bagels and coffee for the bride and bridesmaids at Paneras. Just as I was finishing my order a van crashed through the window. The van was about a foot away from me. Needless, to say I was anything but calm AND I couldn't find my daughter. I was screaming, "Where's my baby!" It was mass chaos, of course. i finally turned around and saw a man holding her! She must have been standing near the hot coffees that had all gotten knocked over, and he scooped her up! I ran over and hugged him as my knees were trembling.

I never went for counseling, but maybe I should have. Everytime there's a loud crash me and my daughter jump. It has gotten better though.

Dana, I would defnitely go and talk to someone.

Thanks for sharing. It just reminds us that we should count our blessings every day.
