I'd like to open a discussion about how you think different birth control methods effect hormones and possibly body fat. I know that every woman here has different thoughts and experiences and I'm hoping that your wealth of knowledge can help me prepare for what's about to happen to me.
I'm going to switch from the pill to the IUD. The reason for this change is to get onto a birth control method that does not have hormones in it. I'll be on the type of IUD that does not release hormones. I've been on the pill (ortho novum 777 for about 12 years and currently ortho tricyclen for the past 6 years) and recently had an abdominal cat scan done. They found 2 hemangiomas on my liver. These are benign clusters of blood vessels that were either in there from birth or caused by birth control. My OB/GYN wants me off of hormones because she doesn't want me to create new hemangiomas if they were caused by me taking the pill.
Here's the list of things I'd like to discuss:
1. What's it like to go off of the pill and be on no hormones at all? How does that effect your every day life? Your workouts?
2. Who has noticed a difference is body fat while being on hormones? Is that body fat a greater or lesser percent while on hormones like the pill? Anyone gain or lose weight?
3. Is there a difference in PMS symptoms while on the pill verses off the pill?
4. How about sex drive? Anyone notice an increase or decrease once off of birth control?
5. Anyone with anxiety disorder or panic disorder notice a change after stopping birth control pills or shots?
