Horizontal Conditioning Question

For those of you that use these work outs how do you use them in your rotations? I know it's mostly upper body/core work so do you use them in place of another upper body workout or a total body work out? My favorite way to work out is heavy splits 3 days a week (2 upper 1 lower) with cardio the other 3 days. I'm thinking of getting these just trying to figure out how to incorporate them.

I'm so glad you asked this, because I have the same question. I've asked for HC for Christmas and might get lucky!

I have them and I have yet to figure out how to make them work with at three day split program. HC uses very light weights(nothing heavier than 8), but they are still demanding on the upper body(back and shoulders for me). I'm not sure I would want to do a HC workout that was before or after a shoulder or back heavy lifting workout. I might be able to pull off doing an HC workout before a heavy lifting UB day, but not after.

I'm thinking I might be able to mix it in with XTrain because Cathe has a DVD where she puts bi/tri together, but that could be a problem also. I suppose I'm just going to have to see how it goes because I really don't want to stop doing these HC workouts. They are fabulous!!

It's tough to figure this out, but I have an idea when XTrain comes for what I want to do. I find HC really works my shoulders a lot, so I'm planning on trying to keep at least one day of HC a week, but separate it from the chest and shoulders disc by at least 2-3 days. I'm planning to look at the XTrain user guide when we get it, since I know Cathe has an XTrain/LIS 90 day rotation in there. My thought proces is this: LIS has lots of horizontal work as well (esp AB, CSS and AT) in the form of plank work, push ups and burpees/mountain climbers with the discs. I figure wherever Cathe has one of those LIS workouts, I can plug in HC potentially. We'll see how it goes!

I do think it's going to be a very individual thing to figure out. Everybody has different tolerances regarding how much they can work a particular area or how intense they can go. One thing I know, is I really don't want to give up HC completely while I do XTrain! The core strength gained from these workouts is unparalleled!

What about cardio, back/bi, HC, cardio, chest/tri shoulders, legs, cardio. You can also do cardio on HC days, as they are not really that long especially if you cut out the warm up and cool down.
