Yeah, Hans Solo is pretty much the sci-fi guy gold standard! I used to carry a trading card with his picture on it in my pocket. And no, this wasn't last week.

I was like, 8.
Robin, fantasy counts, and if we were to phaser you we'd have them set on "stun" not "kill." Then we'd go through your pockets and steal your wallet while you were passed out
Michele, LOVE Wrath of Khan! What a great flick. If you like DS9 you will like BSG, I think. It's smart and sexy and grown-up and brutal and funny. When most people hear "BSG" they thing of the campy series with Dirk Benedict and Lorne Green in tight 70s space suits but this is totally modern and updated. The cast is fantastic, headed by Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell. Worth a rental, at a any rate.
Maeghan, I liked Voyager for most of its run but did not get into Enterprise at all, though my sis loved it. I actually was never a B5 fan. That and Stargate I've never been able to get into to. Did love Farscape though, and Firefly. My niece and nephew love Q. They want to be able to control the universe like that...
ETA: I love the fact that both DS9 and TNG ended before they became jokes. There's nothing more awful (TV speaking) than watching a great show die a slow and ugly death.
X-Files comes to mind.
