Hometripper Friday activities: check-in

Greetings to all who are not going on the road trip. Today is our first day "together"! Feel free to check in here any time and post your info. Today, there are three activities: the welcome party/potluck; a trivia game; and a t-shirt "making" (even if only in your mind) party.

Welcome party/potluck:
What are you bringing to share? (optionally, actually prepare and eat it).


Trivia game: post a fitness related question and we’ll see who can answer.


T-shirt making: "make" a custom-designed t-shirt (or sleeveless T) or T-shirts that you will "wear" to the different exercise classes. What’s your motto? What do you want to tell the world about you and exercise?

Ack. No fun for me today. I'm slaving away at work, trying to please a dean who is impossible to please. It may be a long day.

For the Pot Luck - I'm bringing black beans and brown rice enchiladas made w/ whole wheat tortillas

I've already posted my fitness question - it's concerning weights. I'm SOOO confused.

My t-shirt... hmm - I'd go sleeveless - it's hot here this weekend - and put Teddy Roosevelt's 1910 quote on it:

"It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. Yeah, it's long but I'm 5'10 and still have 20 pounds to lose - so it'll fit...

I will bring grilled wild Salmon. I finally got a real wild Salmon. (It's hard to get fresh seafood in Midwest). Recipe is easy:

Marinated in Low salt soy souce, brown sugar for about an hour. Add on mustard on each side right before grill.

Grill 8 minutes each side (I got a filet whole fish)

Then consider it is done.

Do you do warm up before running? What kind of warm up, Cathe's or just run slowly at the beginning?

I am going to wear quasi sleevless t-shirt. It is hot here, too. But cool during the night. It has logo "Sex and the City"
 
I'm bringing roasted red pepper dip with veggies.

My t-shirt would have one of Cathe's sayings "having a good old time".

Hopefuly there'll be lots of yummy desserts at the potluck.:9

What a great quote!!! Yes, I'd love to see some recipes. I love to try new dishes!!!

I am bringing those peanut butter cupcakes that were posted a couple of weeks ago and Sarah "ima" cleaned up the recipe for us. I am making the clean version.

I'm not cooking today because my DH and I are going out tonight. The babysitter will probably order a pizza.

I'll wear a sleeveless t-shirt that says, "Pump it up!" (I always liked that song.)

I forgot who posted about the salmon, but i finally found some wild salmon at Trader Joe's. I haven't made it yet, but plan to this weekend sometime.

I made another Tshirt. This one is short sleeves, with a vneck.:7
It says: "If you hear a voice inside saying you cannot do it, by all means do it and the voice will be silenced."

Hi Everyone,

Well since I just got done working in the garden my dish will be a veggie one. A basil tomatoe salad with spinach and avocados. Also, a stir fry (zuccini, mushrooms, and onions). Maybe I will add shrimp, I haven't decided. Then I may sneak a few double dipped chocolate covered peanuts in for desert.

My t-shirt will be a camisole style because I like my arms unrestricted. I tend to get twisted in clothes. If it had words, hmm... JUST DO IT... I don't usually use this saying but lately I've been thinking it to myself a lot. Oh and don't forget the obligatory name tag.

Trivia question- well this is an easy one, just for fun. Which Cathe workout included the chicken song?

I'm bringing a quinoa pilaf salad to the potluck (quinoa, shredded carrots, peas, red onion, olive oil, chopped garlic).

Trivia question: Which of Cathe's background exercisers is a gym teacher?

T-shirt: I'll make a baby doll T that says:

When Cathe says "jump"
I (usually) don't!

Since I'll sweat like a pig with each workout, I'll need a second shirt, so I'll steal a motto that Rachel McLish used on a t-shirt years ago "Body by effort"

(I'm going to post the first Saturday thread early, since some of you will hit 9:30 a.m. before I even wake up!!)
 
Hey this is fun and I am hungry! I will bring a fruit salad(since that sounds good right now).

Hi all!

I'm bringing the wine. I always bring the wine. Everyone knows I don't cook so I'm the designated wine bringer. I'll also bring cheese and crackers (the kind without trans-fatty acids).

Cedie is the gym teacher, right? On that note, which Cathe crew member moved to Georgia?

I'm still thinking about my motto.

I'm bringing fruit smoothies. You can have watermelon or blueberry/green tea. Sounds not so great, but is EXCELLENT and very healthy!
