Home Gym flooring!

Cathlete
Hi there,
We are converting a room in our home to a gym. We both use it for Aerobics/weights/yoga. We are wondering if we should go with an industrial indoor/outoor carpet. I know it's ugly, but if we put laminate or anything else in there it will need an interlocking pad to go over it and I don't know if it will stay still while I MOVE/Dance on it. Also, what if a weight is dropped on it? Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Deb

Hi Deb! I see Melissa gave you some help but just wanted to pop in and say Hi! Gosh, I haven't seen you forever! Nice to see you here! Good Luck with your new workout room...how exciting!

Thanks..

Hi Deb! Yes, oh boy..we've been in the throes over here getting one out of college and the other one IN! lol....We have joined the ranks of the "empty nest"...and guess what? We're remodeling! Why not right? How are you and yours? What's new whats shakin?
Also, Deb I wonder if STS has a fullbody workout in it? Do you know? I've searched but, can't find the answer on the program description...Thanks!

STS Total Body is what you are probably looking for. Its based on the STS Meso system.

STS Strength (36 dvds or 40 with the optional Squat Rack set) are comprised of split body workouts.

I have carpet in my workout space and was looking for something. I bought 7/8 inch thick puzzle Mats from Great Mats who do have lots of options. They hardly move and I cannot put them completely wall to wall but do have some heavy equipment butting up against the edges. I chose a color close to my carpet just because I did not want it to be so prominant. My only problem with them is I make sure to set my weights on the carpet areas because unless it is short term like when I am doing a workout. It makes intentations where they set. In fact I recently got the urban rebounding system and I put a plo pad I purchased a few years ago under the rebounder when using it.
You can have a suspended floor put in with wood that has a give to it. I think Cathe posted this at one time. I could be wrong though.
I have had my Mats for over 2 years now.
Good Luck figuring out what will work for you.

Can you post a link of the mats you got?
