Holy Callouses, Batman!!

Ouch! I just started another round of P90X last week and today was Chest/Back and I'm hurtin'! For those of you that do pull ups regularly, what do you do? We have a homemade pull up bar made from an extra barbell so it's not padded. I wear lifting gloves, but that's not helping. Can you buy those padded grips like they use in the dvd? Or are there better gloves out there?

Any suggestions would be great. I'm not looking forward to Legs/Back day. I may just have to use the bands and give my palms a break.

Thanks,

I agree about chalk. Try putting on the areas where you are seeing calluses forming, then wearing gloves as well. Chalk (big 'bricks' of magnesium sulfate) is cheap, and you can find it in sporting goods stores.

Thanks ladies! I'm going to Dick's tomorrow and get me some chalk. Although, I must admit, I'm a bit proud of them;)

I have a pullup bar attached to the ceiling in my basement and I wrapped it very carefully with standard black electrical tape. I stretched the tape along every inch and was careful not to miss or double wrap any section. I also wear gloves and this has helped me with my caluses, but face it, you will still have some evidence on your hands if you do enough pull-ups (which is cool)!
