Hollywood Images.........

I hate to admit this but everytime I look at those People magazines or something else - I begin wishing my butt was smaller, and I was about 10 pounds lighter! I know that the standards of Hollywood are ridiculous, but I cannot help but admit that I do try and achieve some level of that perfection! I know the difference between healthy stars and sick ones..........I have to say that Angelina Jolie is beautiful! She is slender and toned.....................hmmmmmmmmmm wonder what type of workouts she does?????

Just food for thought today!

I believe alot of those women like angelina work out hard to stay fit... some may starve themselves but alot of them work for it... you can't have a body like halli berry and angelina and some of the others for very long without working hard to keep it...
I know I workout hard... and its getting there but not exactly where I want it yet,.... still got some jiggle in the lower butt....

Rhonda

Alot of those pictures are airbrushed as well. Wouldn't that be great? Get up in the morning, brush your teeth, comb your hair, airbrush the cellulite on your behind....:p

You know, I feel the same way. About three years ago, I quit looking at the magazine rack at the grociery store and I no longer look at those magazines at all. Since I have done that, my self-confidence and improved TREMENDOUSLY and I don't feel pressure to be super-thin anymore. I love my body just the way it is! Now when I see how skinny most of the actresses, I mostly feel sorry for them and feel like they all look the same. I have am curvy and have a big butt, yes, and my boobs aren't perky, but I look like a woman and most of them still look like little girls (Anjelina excluded, she is HOT!). And we are probably tons healthier than most of them, too. Think of what all that starving does to you!

Sparrow is SOOOO right - the Hollywood women you see in magazines don't actually look that good in real life! It is truly amazing what you can do with Photoshop - cellulite GONE, waist SLIMMED, wrinkles GONE, skin SMOOTHED, thighs THINNED... it is so easy to do this with todays' photo editing software. So you are truly comparing yourself to an impossible standard! I just saw an issue of the National Enquirer on the newsstand that had a headline that was something like "Celebrity Cellulite - guess who's thighs these are!" Now THAT is the magazine you want to read, because it's showing the non-airbrushed, real, candid photos of Hollywood celebrities. Then you won't feel so bad after looking at those pictures! Not that I encourage anyone to read the Enquirer...

I bet even Angelie Jolie looks scary when she first wakes up in the morning! :)

You also have to consider that they are all probably wearing body make up which makes their skin look flawless and always perfectly smooth and tan. It would be interesting to see some of the celebrities we emulate at home on a Sunday afternoon with no shower, no make up and no airbrushing. We might be surprised. When I used to perform on stage it was amazing what a little "stage makeup" could do. People who were not necessarily attractive people would get their make up and hair done for their headshots and they looked like completely different people, and all beautiful!

Hey Reba,

I will be wearing a pair of shorts in the class and you will see just how "NOT" perfect my thighs are. At one time I LOATHE them, but I become to LOVE the way I look. As other posters said, most of the women are sooooo airbrushed it's ashamed. I have a huge birth mark on my right shoulder and for years I was so ashamed of it, did not like to wear short sleeves, but now I love it more & more. I've actually had two people tell my they like my birth mark...?????? And my boobs--HA--perky--HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Push-ups are the way to go for me that is. :D

To add to what everyone has said already you have to remember that Hollywood stars have the best dermatologists, plastic surgeons, personal trainers, chefs, etc. money can buy. They also buy the best beauty products and get the latest beauty treatments. Add to that good make-up, good airbrushing, and crash diets and there you have it.

Btw Oprah and Tyra without makeup? Not as gorgeous!

The average woman is a 14 and the average starlet a 2 and advertisers use teeny tiny people to sell Cheetos and Coke as if we can munch down and not take the 14 up and up. Pooh on them! My daughters were watching a show about some of the stars who've gotten so scrawny like Lindsay Lohan, Brittany Murphy, Renee Zeilwegger, sorry if I spelled her name incorrectly. They look ill. Angelina is gorgeous and there are some women who are naturally body beautifuls but they make up a tiny portion of the population and it's to be hoped they are mean or stupid to make it up to the rest of us. Hollywood is getting smaller and smaller and if they keep it up they'll all just disappear! And then there are the aging stars like Prisilla Presley and Cher and I find them quite freakish and I'd rather look like myself. I think Haydee is magnificent! Reba, keep striving to be the best you and love your butt. :D I find most rich, famous, beautiful people rather repulsive. Because they are!

I think a lot of celebs smoke as well and that helps them stay so thin. I'll take my size 8 body over black lungs anyday...

I know how ridiculous it is to compare yourself to stars, but I cannot help but admit that at times - Shame on myself! LOL

Whenever I used to get the Fitness RX magazines - I used to drool over the cover models - my husband thought I was a lesbian for awhile - He just didn't understand that I was envious of their biceps! HAHAHA!

These stars all look great, but can you imagine the time and effort spent -- not just by the stars themselves but their crew, assistants, trainers, make-up artists, personal chefs, hair stylists, fashion designers, photographers, etc., etc. -- on making them look picture-perfect?

I bet if each one of us has our own "posse" of stylists, trainers, artists and designers, not to mention Photoshop experts, we'd all be strutting around in absolute perfection.;-)

Another thing, there are certain ways you can stand for the camera and look 10 pounds lighter. Say you got a little bit of a puff in your abs, stand with one hip toward the camera twist back, so you face the camera but still at a pretty good angle and make sure the brightest light is full center on you. No more puff when the camera goes click. As it will melt into the line of the hip toward the back.

In modeling it's consiered a 3/4 pose, and used 90% of the time with those ultra sleek/skimpy dresses and fit like a second skin and bathing suits. As the one thing I've notice the models who workout and eat healthy will be around a lot longer then those who starve themselves. And there are a lot of reasons, when you strave yourself you don't look your best, and you age faster, or sure give the appearence that you do. And secondly you just don't have the energy, needed for a 14 to 16 hour photo shoot. Anyone who has tried to fast, with just water knows how dead tired they are by the end of the day. Try it, jumping around as a child full of energy with a some breaks but basically for 14 hours, or even a fast with protien shakes/bars, that still is pretty hard to pull off. So remember what your doing is much more healier and you'll have that great body a lot longer and you'll look a lot younger then those models and cebs that are too thin and starve themselves.

But if you look at the fitness magizines most of the models are slim but don't have much muscle, at least not compared to the women I see everyday at the gym, who look healthy and workout to stay fit, and strong. And one reason is the fact the the industry doesn't want the women who looks strong and can take care of her self, but the skinny one who looks cute and still can look to a guy for protection.

Also another thing, most female models are 12 to 25, 25 your considered very old. Which is another reason why a lot of times their bodies look the way they do, they still haven't got all their curves.

And remember modeling is about, selling a dream an image that everyone wants. As a model you get to help bring that image to the photograph but it's not real. It's not even you, it is an idea that serveral people had. Of a beautiful female, and you get to play that role and make that female have life and sparkle like she's real. But she was never real except for in the minds of her makers, and those looking at her on that glossy page. Just like a story in a book, you can imagination yourself there, but it's all due to the author's and your own imagination. Just this time, it is in color rather then words.

And I think that's were a lot of us get lost, we see that dream, and want to be in it. And since it's not like a book where we can imagination ourselves being the hero, but that glossy magizine page has someone there that doesn't look anything like us. We then try to be achieve what we see, and want to not only have that image or dream but be it.

So remember just because you don't get to get up take a shower, brush your teeth grab breakfast and have a a make-up artist, and hair stylist waiting for you at 4:30 am. Your still as good as any model as long as you take care of your body to your best ability. You work just as hard as they do, sometimes even harder. And if you seen them on their day off. You'd probably trip over your jaw that's fell on the ground. Thinking you must need your eyes check, as the women in front of you looks nothing like a model, or any picture you ever seen of her.

As most females know make-up can change you a lot, just look at what most of us can achieve by ourselves when we want to go to some fancy night out.

Good lighting can make anyone look 10 pounds slimer, and take away a lot of flaws, as well as make you look like your more toned. If you try that 3/3 pose, almost every model on the cover of Shape or Fitness is in this pose, you can reduce your tummy or make it look like your got tight abs, just by a little bit of a twist of the body. The way you dress can cut out another 10 more pounds, and those wonderul photo imaging stuff that takes off red eye, smoothes skin tone, edits this flaw, enhance this over here. Anyone can look movie star perfect with that stuff.

So you may not have the money they do, but you still have a good body that could rival a lot of the talent on their days away from the camera.

This got a little bit longer then I wanted, but I wanted to show some of the things, that I've seen behind the scenes. So when you look at the TV or anywhere else, it's harder to draw you into that image of wanting to be someone's fantasy, as even for a model it took about 20 people or more to turn her into that fantasy, for a split second.
