Holland anyone?

I'm such a home body and traveling "abroad" for me is Canada where I've been a few times, but that's it. In a few weeks we are packing up the kids and heading to Holland / the Netherlands for a few weeks. I'm excited, though a bit on edge about it as well. Any travel tips? I'm also looking for packing suggestions (though I've asked Lorrayne who is the queen of packing for long trips, so I've gotten some good ones.) But any and all tips are welcome. TIA.

Travel to the province of Utrecht. It is the most beautiful of all, from what I am told. Visit the unversity as well. Many Dutch live by me so I do know about the country.

Thanks JT. That's actually where we are staying as my husband will be teaching a summer course at the University. Glad to hear your recommendation. Good to know.

Been to Amsterdam many times, but not outside of that. If you're going there, be sure to hit the markets for shopping (Saturday mornings), walk through Vondel Park, tour the Heineken Museum (free beer!), take 30 minutes to go see the Anne Frank house, and if you're into it, visit a coffee shop (probably without the kids) :) Great shopping as well.

Not sure if you'll have kid free time, but for an interesting dinner experience, visit Supperclub. You need to make reservations in advance and then confirm them 48hrs out. It's a 5 hr dinner course in bed. Yes, the whole place is made of beds. The food is outstanding, whatever the chef prepares that night. We had a 7 course meal that was one of the best I've ever had. I also got a full body massage between courses from the massuese walking the room.
It's not for kids. But it's very cool if you have the chance to do it and are open to new experiences.

If you hit the Heineken museum, you must look up the Gelateria Italiana Peppino, which is close by. World's best ice cream!
