holiday recipes for the healthy eater

Hi everyone:

Does anyone have any thanksgiving recipes for people who need to eat low glycemic foods as well as low fat foods? If anyone has a favorite turkey breast recipe, a wild rice recipe, and a veggie recipe they would be willing to share, I would really appreciate the help.

Thank you,

PS I always wonder why we put so much effort into a holiday that revolves purely around food!

I can't help you with the low fat and glycemic recipes, but sometimes it's okay to enjoy the holidays and eat foods you seldom get to eat. I make a sweet potato casserole at Christmas that has lots of sugar and eggs in it. I make it once a year and everybody loves it. My attitude is, since I workout and eat healthy all year long, I might as well enjoy a few of those those fattening holiday delights.:9 Unless you don't care for the holiday fixing or for health reasons you aren't able to indulge, go ahead and enjoy.:)

I like the cookinglight.com website. They give you a lot of recipes for free and if you subscribe to their magazine (I used to) they give you all of the recipes for free.

Also there is a tv show on food network called Low Carb and Lovin It. They will probably have a Thanksgiving show. You can go to foodtv.com and search this show.

I agree with last poster. I wish I were that disciplined to eat healthy on holidays but enjoy and eat in moderation. I think my goal for this year is to pick my favorites and not load up on things I kinda like. I am going for quality and not eating a million hershey kisses in a row just because they are in front of me. :)

Good luck and happy holidays,
Lori
