Hip joint pain

Oh man...I think I might have damaged my hip joint yesterday. I worked out on the abductor and adductor machines at the gym, and now, 12 hours later, the side of my hip is killing!

I'm guessing that because of relaxin, I managed to shift my joint out of place. Does anyone know what my plan of action should be? Call my ob, or my primary care dr.? Or just wait it out? I would imagine there's not much a Dr. can do for me, and I wonder if this type of thing will improve on its own if I just leave it alone for awhile. OR will it get worse?

Advice?

Hello Eclair,

Sorry about the pain. I usually advise pregnant women to steer clear of the abductor and adductor machines due to the joint instability created by relaxin. I definitely think that you should get a "look see" from one of your docs. I would start with your OB.

Take care and keep us posted. Stay off those machines!

Fortunately, the pain is gone. I rested for 2 days, and I will not use those machines again during my pregnancy.

I flipped through "Expecting Fitness", and it says that it's important to keep those muscles strong during pregnancy, so I suppose leg lifts are the way to go. Would you advise using light wrap-around weights, or no weight at all? (assuming we're used to having weight). Or do you think I should not work those muscles at all?
