*ahem* Aspect ratio is the length divided by the width. Aspect ratio is a commonly mentioned specification in televisions. "Old" tv's have an aspect ratio of 4:3 (1.33), whereas new widescreen format tvs (and computer monitors) have an aspect ratio of 16:9 (1.78). This aspect ratio is constant regardless of the size of the tv. Aspect ratio is important in televisions so that the picture looks right on any size tv. It's not really that important with cats, but it IS fun to measure!
