high step for tall people 5'9"

fit 4 life

Cathlete
Good moring everyone,

I am going to order the high step today. I was wondering for you that are tall how maany risers do you use to get in a good workout. I was told 6 would be good. I see Cathe uses six in some of her workouts and she isn't tall:)

I also have the the teal and purple club step. I thought I read somewhere on here that the original club step that you can order here has a lot more cushion and is a lot nicer. Any suggesstions? I was thinking of ordering it too.

I would really apprreciate any comments.

Thank you,
Debbie:)

The teal and purple club step IS the original club step, just a different color option from the black/grey that you can also get. Both have the same amount of cushion, and are 'cushier' than the Reebok step.

As for high step height, go no higher than having your knee at a right angle when your foot is on the step (any higher, and there is unnecessary stress on the knee). Using 6 risers would bring the step to 16" (4" for the topper, and 2" for each riser), which might be just right for someone 5'9". But, if you are just starting out doing high step work, I would recommend starting at a lower height, even 12", then moving up as your muscles adapt.

Hi fit for life!
I'm even taller than you, 5'11 and find 16 inches too tall for some high step moves. I manage well with the 14in which is 5 risers. Kathryn's right... about the right angle. Don't sacrifice good form.
When I started with Cathe from the firm I used to pull one riser out 1/2 way through the work out. Ie..in high step training advanced...after about the 3rd interval of step up's I was down to 12 inches. It took about 4-5 times through that workout before I realized I could make it all the way through without pulling one out. Happy stepping...

Thank you Amber and Kathryn. I appreciate your feedback. I am not new to Cathe but took some time off from her workouts due to a death in my family. I am getting back in to her workouts again. I think I will buy six risers but start off with a few less. I am so glad I ordered her new workouts. I hope you both have a nice day.

Just an FYI--the risers for the original club step also work with the high step, so you may not have to order extra risers!:)

RE: high step for tall people 5'9

I'm 5'8" and find 6 risers to be perfect for everything.

HSC, ME, BC, LL, PS Legs, GS Legs, L&G. Am I missing any? HSTA I guess, although I don't own it.

And it's also nicer to sit on for dips and seated weight work.

I'm a long-legged 5'9" and find 6 risers to be just what I need.

Hi Soooooosan, I am long legged too. I ordered the high step, original club step and I will have a total of 6 risers. I am glad I finally ordered !

Thank you very much, and thanks to everyone with your responses. I am patiently waiting for the new workouts now yea!

I have to work today. The only good thing is I can wear jeans:)
