Hi Pamela,
I have noticed your weight loss amount going up the last few weeks. I was going to reply to the thread about the DVD chapters since someone else brought it up. I decided however to try and let that thread die.

Anyway I wanted to say great-great job :-wow :-wow :-wow :-wow :-wow :-wow .

What kind of diet are you following? I lost 35 lbs about 2 years ago and can't seem to get the last 5 pound or so off. (I'm more concerned about inches than pounds. I have increased the intensity of my workouts in the last two weeks, but haven't seen results yet. I know a probably need to give myself another week or so but I also think I need to shake up my diet a little. I eat about 1500-1800 calories a day. I try to eat a 50-25-25 plan. 50% carbs, 25% protein, and 25% fat. Any ideas??? :-hmmm

Thanks, Dawn!

I've been at this since 2/1/98. For the first 22 months, I just did it on my own (with hubby). I concentrated on eating a low-fat, well-balanced diet, and limiting snacks. Because I still had a lot to lose and was doing a lot of exercise, that worked fine for quite a while. However, after that 22 months I started plateauing big-time (I lost about 80 pounds the first year, but only about 15 the second) and I knew it was time to start working more on portion sizes, etc. I couldn't eat as much as I was (probably about 2,200 calories a day at that point) and keep getting away with it. So at that point I started using Weight Watchers' at-home program. I also went to meetings for a few months earlier in the year, but found I was able to still do okay on my own. It's worked great...I've lost about 50 more pounds doing it that way. It has kept me more honest, I think.

Unfortunately, I'm no expert on losing the last 5 pounds, because I've never gotten that close! ;-) But your game plan sounds fine to me. Patience is key...it will take more time since the amount you want to lose is a smaller overall percentage of your body weight than it is for someone like me. Again, this is just my opinion (Cleda's favorite line: I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV), but I wouldn't personally recommend cutting your calories any lower. Your body needs those calories to support your workouts.

Another possibility to consider is that you really don't *need* to lose another 5 pounds and your body likes it right where it is. By focusing more on fitness goals or, like you said, concentrating on inches rather than pounds, that will allow you to decide what is really the best place for your body to be regardless of what the scale says.

Hope that helps! Good luck!
