Hi Edith,

I take it from your previous posts that you follow the radiant recovery program for sugar addiction. I wanted to check in with you about that--are you actively "doing the food", as they say? I wanted to see how that process has gone for you, since they encourage you to do it as slow as you need to, but because of the whole high cholesterol issue, I feel like I really need to make big changes but the mere thought of giving up my comfort foods makes me feel so terrible I go crawling back to them!

I understand you might not be checking the board over the holiday, so I'll bump this back up if I don't hear from you for a few days! :)

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hi Lauren:

Yes I'm actively "doing the food" and have been working on the Program since about 98 or 99 whenever the PnP book first came out and that was like Dec 98 or Jan 99. I'm now off sugar and very faithful to the program and it's been great. I get bored with it sometimes but it's really been worth it.

I say give it a full try no matter what don't let anything stand in your way, because eventually you'll be better off for making the commitment.

Let me know if I can help

Edith

Thanks for your response! I guess what I am wondering, more specifically, is how long did it take you to progress through the steps? And, even more importantly, did food used to be an extremely emotional issue, whereas the program helped it to just be not a big deal? I talk to people in the radiant dissertation support group, which is great, but either they are at an early stage of the process, or we tend to talk more about specifics, like what is good to eat for breakfast. I want to be reassured that I could really go from feeling relatively powerless over food to feeling like it is pretty well under control and I can make good choices without TOO much suffering! :)

You are like an ambassador to me, reporting back from the land of No More Cravings! :)

Thanks,
Lauren

Took from Jan 99 to Aug 01 to go thru all 7 steps for me.

I discovered in the journey that my issues with food and a lotta my problems were not "emotional" but rather biochemical. It's really changed my life in ways almost undescribable.
