Hey Nancy234!

DebbieH

Cathlete
I was just wondering how you are doing with your Vertigo? Did the supplement work? I know the awful feeling of being queasy with "V". I hope you are doing okay!

Hi Deb! You were a lifesaver!! I now carry a little box of Bonine in my purse at all times and feel more in control. The ingredient in Bonine is Meclizine Hydrochloride. It works well and, even though I don't know what causes the vertigo, at least I know how to stop it. :)

I've had a few mild feelings of dizziness since that major episode, but they just lasted just a few seconds. I hope yours are very brief too?

Thank you so much again!!

Oh, great! That makes me feel good that it helped! My attacks sometimes last for days and they make me nauseous! Uuugh! They make me feel like I have to eat to make the feeling go away. (Not a good thing! Ha!) I am almost out of the pills my sis gave me (Meclizine)and I haven't been able to find them here so maybe I'll search for the Bonine. Thank YOU for that tip. Good Luck and hope your dizziness
doesn't return.

RE: Deb!

Oh dear, Deb! I had no idea yours were lasting for days. How awful!

If it makes you feel any better, my reaction was also to keep my stomach full at all times with tummy soothing foods like bread, which I don't normally eat. I think it's a perfectly typical reaction to mild nausea, and, at least in my mind, the food does help.

Since it seems that Bonine has the same ingredient that you were taking, I would definitely buy some and keep it around. The instructions say to take one or two pills, and I found I needed two pills to control the dizziness.

I'm so glad we could help each other. It is so great to know I'm back in control, and I'm no longer afraid of leaving home! :)

Thanks so much for the good wishes and hugs, Kathy!

RE: Deb!

Thanks, Nancy! It does make me feel better to know I am not alone in the "Have-to-fill-my-stomach-to feel better! One quick question...do the Bonine have any side effects that you noticed? I worry about taking TWO and then having to do a class. Just curious. Thanks again for helping me out! Enjoy the OUTSIDE world! :7

RE: Deb!

I've only taken Bonine once so far, but I didn't notice any side effects. As I recall, it didn't make me drowsy at all. I would feel fine taking them at work if necessary.

Kathy, does your son have any side effects?

RE: Deb!

Great, that makes me feel better. I'd hate to fall over while doing a pony, grapevine or cha-cha! Ha! Wishing us BOTH Vertigo-Free days ahead!

RE: Deb!

Are you taking the less drowsy version of Bonine?

I take it for travel and find that it does make me super tired. The regular version will knock me out, but the less drowsy version just makes me a little tired (still driving, functioning as normal).

I have purchased the off-brands of this product and taken it many times. Target has their own version of Bonine, as do many others. This is a less expensive route.

You can also try Dramamine (less-drowsy). It has the same ingredients, I am pretty sure.

I am glad that you ladies are discussing this. I will remember this solution!

This has me wondering, do you also have trouble with motion sickness? I am wondering if it has something to do with your inner ear. I am prone to dizziness fairly easily, as well as every kind of motion sickness out there. Just a thought.

RE: Deb!

Yes, early, I'm taking the Bonine that says "causes less drowsiness" on the box. I'm not sure there is another kind. Here it is:

ETA: Deb, I would experiment by taking it sometime when you're not going to be teaching, and see how it affects you. Although it says "less drowsiness" on the box, I honestly don't remember any drowsiness at all.

I second the wish for vertigo-free days ahead for us both!
