@@Hey MELTERS! Thursday's here! @@

Cathlete
Good Morning!

Well I was all set to do L&G this morning at 4:30. I got started and cra**ped out at the 26 minute markx( . What's up with that? I just stopped and decided to go upstairs. I guess part if it is I have done a complete 180 when it comes to weight work. I used to love doing lower body, and now it's upper body I love to do and hate lower body work..

Just getting us started will be back in a bit..

Deb

Deb - I've had days like that. I start and I just cannot get into it and at some point during the workout, I just stop.

I didn't get up at all this morning:p Alarm went off and I rolled over and went back to sleep. I'll run tonight.

Hi I'm Back,

This weather is making me crazy! It starts out at 20 degrees ( now) and it's supposed to go up to 55. I hate wearing winter clothes when it's 55, but at 20, I will freeze and look like a dork in summer clothes! Have to go up and change into something more "spring like".

Shelly:
I'm glad I am not the only one that does that!x( . Well tomorrow it another day right? Love the picture..I think I will tell my hair person to do a cut like what you have, maybe a little longer because I am a wimp about my hair. Right now it touches my shoulders and I don;t want to go too short and be in tears later. DH hates when I get my hair cut. If I don;t like it I come home like a mad woman!}( . umm .. Shelly.. I hate to ask how old your boss is.. ok you're killing us here.. what is it? we have to know ( the gift from Robin):D

Robin:
How did the hair apt go? didn't you get a cut right before you went away? So sorry to hear about your sleepless night.. damn womanhood!
Kelsey is 12, will be 13 if we get the pup in August. I sure hope she is still playful etc and doesn;t find the puppy annoying. We got Clancy when she was a year old and she basically trained him herself!
Glad to hear the rash was not Mrsa..can you find out what it is?

Jennifer:
Did you get CTX and try it yet? ugh.. the remains of a mouse? As we would say .." you gotta luv em" ( to put up with some of the stuff they do)!

Shannon:
Cudos to you for doing that workout on the eliptical! I give a lot of credit to anyone that can stay on that for more than 20 minutes! I have to admit though that it is the cardio machine that burns the most calories for me, but I can;t do more than 20 minutes at one time. Did you ever do the I-Train Circuit that uses the eliptical? It's about 40 minutes long and you get off and do weights then get back on etc..I think I burned 450 cal that workout, and had doms for a week! I like your theory on weight loss!

Leanne:
Congratulations on your nomination! ;-) All that hard work you do paid off! I used to count calories too, on Fitday.com. It was pretty labor intensive, and if you slipped and ate something not too good, I hated to put it in. I hope we can get an Izzy puppy too.. first she has to conceive! She will be mated on April 8, then 30 days later they do a sonogram to see if it worked. Then we take it from there.

Tneah:
Come on another dog maybe a female for George? She will be a little smaller right? :7 What kind of car do you take to SD? You will need to get an SUV and the 2 can be in the back! Hope Aunt Flo has lightened up!. We need her to visit but she can be such a pain!

Lainie:
Smaller jeans ...Yeah! How do you like Get Ripped and Chisled? Another person I chat with has it and really likes it. Somehow I don;t ever seem to like anything with light weights. Does it feel like you worked your muscles?

Emily:
Inches count as melting! Welcome back!

TK:
Thanks for praise..yes it does feel nice to sit and relax after a workout with coffee! Can you imaging publishing a "diet" book with all meals like that Piggy Pie thing? We can call it "Eating at the Cholesterol Cafe". I read somewhere that is it the upcoming flash, that wakes you up. It happens to me too. You wake up for what is seems is no reason, then the flash hits. x( Mine are pretty few and far between now.

Have a great day!

Deb;-)

Hello Melters.

How are you all doing?

CTX never arrived yesterday, instead I received Cardio Kicks & Circuit Max so on my lunch hour, I spent a few minutes at the UPS store to send back to SNM. I emailed them asking to change my order to Hardcore Extreme and Core Max, we shall see what they decide to do.

This weekend, I plan to do ACS2 twice on Sat and Sun, maybe get a walk in around the area, rake my yard (yeah right) and shred old docs.
It's should hit 60 degrees here and sunny for the weekend.

Still no energy or motivation to workout, etc..

Have a Great Day!!

Hey melters. I think I'm going to have to join a new check-in called the maintainers. No matter how hard I try, don't try, workout or don't workout, the scale seems to stay in the same 4 pound range. Wasn't there a "set point" theory a few years ago? I ordered a couple pair of hiking pants on line the other day for my trip to Yellowstone and I'm terrified of them arriving. I ordered 12's, but think that may have been wishful thinking.

TK, I'm glad to hear your DH didn't have a relapse with the MRSA. Did you by any chance see any of the Dr Phil show earlier this week about MRSA? There was a little bit of hype to it, but basically, I think he did a good job warning people about the infection and, hopefully, how to prevent it. I know how you feel about weekend workouts. I love knowing I have a day off and can do my workout when I'd like to, not when I have to. What does your DH do?

Deb, Shelley is right. Some days, you just hit the wall and can't do what you've planned. I often have to play little head games with myself - "just do 5 more minutes, just finish this segment..." - to get through a workout. Other days, the time just seems to fly by. I have to agree with you too. I think I'd much rather do upper body work then lower.

Jennifer, I happy to hear you finally had a taste of springtime. It's pretty outside now, with bright sunshine, but the temps are still in the 20's. I think we are to get rain later on.

Shannon, do you do much riding? You don't seem to mention it much. My very good friend has horses. Sometimes I think she spends more time taking care of them and taking them for walks then actually getting up on them. My sister and I thought we may go riding one day on our trip to Yellowstone. Someone suggested I should get on a horse before then, since it has been YEARS. I should give my very good friend a call....We've also talked about doing some theraputic riding with Greyor. My friend and I used to be involved in a program that did that when Tristan was a kid.

Leanne, I sure hope the light that came on in your new car was nothing serious. I remember the trip we took to Conn. to visit a special doctor who diagnosed my DS's syndrome when he was three. We were diving home in our relativly new Golf, both of us crying our eyes out. It was dark, the road was strange and the danged check engine light came on. We had to pull off the highway and try to read the manual with our swollen eyes. Turns out, it was just the light that comes on at a certain milage, telling you to have routine maintainance done. And, hey, that is GREAT news about your nomation! Do we get a vote?

Shelley, I'm glad you liked the gift. Like I said, it was just a little something, but I wanted you to know I thought about you on our trip. Your hair looks lovely, no matter what you do with it. The bathroom doesn't look so bad in the picture. We need to seriously start thinking about kitchen and bathroom redoes. I just hate to think of the cost.

Lainie, I'm LOL at your jean saga. I think you are intentionally getting the wrong size as an excuse to go shopping, your new workout of choice. Am I right?

Emily!!!! I'm so glad you came back! Great news on the lost inches. I should probably ditch the stupid scale and stick to the tape measure, but I'm afraid it would be the same story - a 1/2 inch gained, a 1/2 lost etc. I can't wait to hear how your 5K goes. I hope you have picture perfect weather.

Dear evil tneah, did you end up eating something decadent? I stopped at a drug store to pick up some lotion for my ugly rash and ended up buying a Chunky bar. Sigh. But I didn't snack when I got home and had a small dinner. DH had dropped his car off at the garage, then the ride he lined up to go get it forgot him. He had to run around till he found a student who gave him a lift. Then the mechanic had left the car inside and the place was closed, so the the kid drove him home. I ended up giving him dinner, which was a pitiful frozen lasagna. We didn't even have ice cream to offer him for dessert. I told him to give me warning next time and I make him an apple pie.

Yikes, I think I've written a book here. That's what happens when I have some time on my hands. I'm off today and meeting a friend for breakfast in about an hour. I'm not sure what workout to do today. Something cardio. Probably a CC. We'll see. Later friends. Have a wonderful day.

Good morning Melters.

Guess what? It's raining. Again. The weather forecast said to expect flooding because some areas might get 4-6 inches! Aahh, springtime in Arkansas.

Last night I ended up running pretty late. The farrier was late... it's pretty hard to stay on schedule in that sort of job. Horses just don't worry about whether we humans are on time or not. Anyhow, the farrier did come and now the horses have pretty hooves again. I ate leftovers and did a stretch to work the day's kinks out.

TK - I'm glad work is slowing down for you. I hope it gets back to normal soon. Yes, a farrier trims horses' hooves, and also shoes them. A good one knows how to trim and shoe to correct various hoof and leg problems, too. I have a good one - I found him because many years ago, my horse's hoof split all the way up to the hairline, and she needed corrective shoeing. I'm never going to let him go. :)

Deb - our weather is sort of like that too, though the cold isn't as cold. Still, it's always hard to decide what to wear this time of the year. No, I've never tried that iTrain circuit. I really don't like circuits, so the thought of doing a circuit and the elliptical kind of makes me want to puke. :p

Jennifer - I hope you get the DVD situation worked out.

Robin - You know, that "maintainers" thread sounds like a good idea. I can sure do that!! My weight just really doesn't budge. Don't worry about riding before you go to Yellowstone. The horses they use there are very calm, to put it mildly. You won't have any problem. Nor will you have a very exciting ride. ;) I never ride. My horses are basically very large dogs who eat a tremendous amount and live a life of luxury.

Good morning lovely Melters!

Feeling good today. Yesterday after work, I did PLB (OMG - ouch!). And this morning I did Drill Max Cardio Blast premix. I'm hoping the DOMS from PLB will be gone by Saturday. I don't want to have to run a 5k with sore legs! ;)

Deb, I think we all have days like that. Tomorrow will be a new day. :) Oh, and I totally "get" how your workout preferences have changed. I used to love upper body and hate lower body. Then I hated all weight work and only wanted to do cardio. Now I love lower body and find upper body kind of boring. Funny how our tastes change over time! :)

Jennifer, sorry you are having trouble getting the right DVDs. SNM has great customer service so I'm sure they'll make everything right.

Robin, UGH! That's the story of my life. I will melt, and then unmelt (freeze? lol!) and then melt and then unmelt. ARGH! It's so frustrating. I started BFL about 4 weeks ago - I'm doing a very modified version, because I'm a veggie, but so far I'm really happy with the results. My weight hasn't changed much, but I've lost 1" from my waist and 1" from my hips. That darn scale just doesn't tell the whole story!

Shannon, I'm sending anti-flood vibes your way! Springtime in Arkansas is apparently not much different thant springtime in Illinois. Lucky us! :p

Morning everyone. I got Isaac off on the school bus and now I'm just chillin' on the couch with Ewan. He's playing the guitar (sort of) and asking me to sing for him.

I'm sleepy again (should probably go without saying). Last night I had disturbing dreams involving an evil circus and fighting the ringmaster who wanted to take Ewan away with him. Luckily there were no clowns, though. I hate clowns.

I was disappointed I couldn't be on more yesterday--just one thing or another all day, ya know. Yesterday I did Jari Love's Get Ripped and Chiseled. You know what's sad? I had 3 or 4 of her workouts last year and ended up selling them all. Now I've gotten some back (though mainly through Swapadvd.com so just by exchanging others). I hate it when I sell things and then want them again. Today is some kind of cardio--haven't decided exactly what yet.

The power flickered briefly and now the internet's acting up--hope I can post this thing.

Deb, sorry you struggled with your workout this morning--been there done that. A lot. I also prefer upper body work, though mainly because of my lower body injuries. I also have little interest in doing butt work since I think my butt is just fine (could probably be firmer but it's round and lifted enough--does that sound like I'm egotistical about my tushy?) Oh, as for the Get Ripped workouts, I do feel worked. I wouldn't do it exclusively (I love the feeling of strength when lifting heavy) but it's nice for a brief rotation. I can tell you I had big bicep and tricep DOMS after doing Get Ripped on Monday. Today I have back and chest DOMS after Get Ripped and Chiseled yesterday. So it's not like everything has DOMS, but I can feel the effect somewhere, at least.

Shelley, I didn't even bother to set the alarm to get up and work out this morning. DH woke me asking if I'd make him some toast. I told him he could make his own toast. He said it tasted better if someone else made it. Whatever. He made his own toast. I also agree that you look young--I think you look younger than I do, and I am "only" 33.

Jennifer, sorry you got the wrong order from SNM--hope you enjoy the replacement!

Robin, I do love the shopping workout, but I swear I'm not intentionally getting the wrong sizes! I actually ended up keeping one bigger pair and returning the other pair for a smaller size. I can always use the bigger pair on chubbier days (like TTOM). I'm afraid they might be starting to get to know me a little too well at ATLoft, though. And I know they know me too well at Target. The woman who checked me out seemed to recognize me and gave me a big "hi, how are you?" like I was a common acquaintance and not in the absent-minded way they say it to any shopper. Huh.

Shannon, I got the package a couple days ago! I forgot to tell you before. I may be trying one of them today, or I might do an old favorite since I'm sleepy (hard to try new things in this mood). You should have seen me when I was opening the box--I actually forgot to expect them and I was racking my brain for who would send me something from Arkansas (since you wrote S. for your first name I didn't immediately think Shannon). I was thinking about a couple old college friends who are in Arkansas, then about my cousin Rhonda (who used to be Bill) but (s)he wouldn't be sending anything. Then I opened it and was like "Duh, slap my head! It's from Shannon!" Anyway, it was fun to get a package. :7

Emily, glad to see you here again. I have the same issues with the bouncing scales. I'm glad BFL is going well for you. I stopped halfway through because not only was I gaining weight, I was gaining inches. Eek! Apparently I wasn't good at it. I'm back to WW.

Leanne, I guess this is another one of your busy days? I hope you have a good one.

Tneah, yep, new workout clothes. My fitness buying frenzies go far beyond just the workouts themselves--it's clothes, equipment, and shoes as well. BTW, just ordered these on eBay last night: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300200981589&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=020
I figure they'll come in handy if we end up taking that trip to the Adirondacks soon that we're thinking about.

TK, enjoy that Disney business trip! :) We've got stock in Disney so we always encourage people to spend money with them. :p Can ya'll guess where else we have stock? Target, of course! So when I talk up Target I guess I have an ulterior motive.

Morning again!

Deb - go for the hair cut. It's very easy to look after. My boss is 78. He'll be 79 this year. His brother, my other boss, is around 75, I think. It can be trying ;) The gift from Robin was a beautiful necklace, pale blue with the tiniest little white shells interspersed.

Jen - I'll be joining you in the raking this weekend.

Robin - trust me, the bathroom is quite vile. Maybe we could make this thread the melters/maintainers? Melters/freezers? :p What the heck is a Chunky bar?

Shannon - at least you don't have to shovel rain ;) Your description of your horses had me howling!

Em - good luck on your 5K. I'll be running with you, don't forget! It's supposed to be nice on Saturday, so I'm going to run outside! I can't actually even remember what that's like:p

Emily - Thanks for the anti-flood vibes. In exchange, I'll send you some DOMS-be-gone vibes. Good luck in the run!!!

Shelley - I was thinking the exact same thing! Actually, I was thinking that if all this rain was snow, we'd have snow up to the eaves.

Lanie - I'm glad the workouts made it safely. I hope you like them. The good thing is that they're all floor aerobics, so if you're sleepy, you don't have to worry about falling of the step! :p

ETA -
Tneah - we must have posted at the same time! You only have nine more days??? Wow. Way to go - you've really stuck it out!

Good Morning Everyone!

TK, It was terrific to see you hanging around last night!:) Can't you guys take something for the hot flashes, isn't there an herb that calms all of that down? Tell me there is please! I am not looking forward to that at all.I do have the occasional night sweat thing which is a taste of things to come I guess. All at the tender age of 41.

Deb, I hate it when that happens with workouts. I did that with Imax 3 the other day, started it, and then stopped after 7 minutes. I had already done the original Imax that week, and this felt like overkill. I like working lower body and hate working my back and biceps!}(

Shelley, glad you got some extra Zzzzz's....good for you.:)

Robin, no, I didn't give into cookie dough, afterall I only have 9 more days on this program right? And yes, I totally believe in the setpoint thing. The first 4 pounds I lost were water, the next 4 were fat, and now I am at a place that losing more would require drastic measures with diet and exercise because the bodyfat is pretty low right now. And I already feel like I am being drastic! Even Mr. Trainer man seems to think this because he did not increase cardio or take away anymore food. When I competed I was only 5 pounds lighter than I am right now, so my bodyfat was super low and I was doing 3 1/2 hours of cardio a day at that time. So, what does it all mean? I will have to lose muscle in order to see a real drop in the scale. Stupid thing to do right? So after all of that, I say we toss our scales and take Shannon's advice of not worrying about it.:7

Shannon, I know! I detest circuits too, I only really like Bootcamp from Cathe as far as circuits go. I like to keep my cardio and weights seperate. LOL at your comment about your horses being large dogs who live the life of luxury!:7

Jennifer, sorry you got the wrong workouts, hope Cathe's people square everything away for you ASAP.

Emily, welcome back to melty-land! Inches lost are what matter, so they count as melting, congrats on your loss!:)

Our weather is warming up, its in the high 70's. Not sure if I am ready for the full-on hot stuff yet.
I would love to get a little Bichon Frise pup! Wouldn't a white fluffy dog be the perfect compliment to Georgie? Plus, George crushes on all the little white dogs he sees, its so cute!
Well, George "crushes" on anyone-canine or not who strikes his "fancy". His lastest "love interest" if you will, was our plumber. Yes, humping George tried to mount him as he laid on the floor trying to fix our garbage disposal the other day. Geez.

Today is the usual diet of cardio, shoulders/abs and then more cardio...BBL and hey to Leanne and Lainie!

Hey! you all are way ahead of me this morning! We all posted at the same time.

Yo, I'm back. I have a bit of a headache this afternoon. Ugh. DH messaged me from work saying he's afraid he might be sick like the boys were sick last week. I hope not.

You guys may laugh when I tell you what I came up with for a cardio workout today. It was one of those days when I kept putting different workouts on TV and didn't feel like doing any of them. Am I becoming a cardio hater? Finally I just put in an episode of Season 3 of Lost (which I checked out of the library the other day) and got out my Bosu and made up my own Bosu cardio workout while watching Lost. Then I heard my right knee creaking more, so I put on some ankle weights, carried some light handweights, and did cardio on the floor. So, I worked out during one episode of Lost (which is about 43 minutes when there are no commercials). I've had better workouts, but that was the most I could make myself do today.

Argh. Still sleepy, too.

Where is everyone today now that I need them?

I fell and twisted my other ankle today. Here I'm still having pain in that right ankle I hurt back in August and I go and hurt the left one. x( x( x( x( x(

I was also carrying Ewan at the time, but he seems to be o.k. I just sort of missed the last step--thought I was already to the bottom or something.

I have a bag of green peas on my ankle.

I hate being clumsy.

OMG! Lainie, you poor thing. Hopefully it was just a little twist and will be OK. I'm relieved no harm was done to Ewan, but heck, you don't need any more lower body pain. Is it swollen? You should have stuck with shopping!

Speaking of shopping, my new pants arrived today and, yahoo! they fit perfectly. No more struggling to melt before vacation. I am officially maintaining now. Whew!

Yeah, it's pretty swollen. And it feels pretty nasty. I actually had to walk on it right away because it happened right before I had to go get Isaac from the bus stop. So I had to walk a couple blocks down and back. I've been trying to rest since then, though.

Great news about the pants, Robin!

Ahhh Lainie!x( Dang it all anyway woman! I am so sorry, I really am. You have been struggling with so many things, fatigue, plumbers, heat, your other ankle, knees, poopy kids;) and now this?? Crap. Remember ,R.I.C.E.
okay? Tell your boys they need to "take care of mommy for a few hours and be very, very good".:) I am sure they are very, very good...and call DH and ask him to pick up dinner tonight or order in.

I went and had my toes and nails done today, I put it off for so long, and will do them myself, but they never look as good. Now I have ten pretty toes and fingers.:) And the boys are leaving tomorrow morning, double :) :)

Hello Melters.

Thank GOD, Friday is ALMOST here!!

My gift for volunteering was $100USD pretax. It's going to the m/c just like everything else does.

No raise or review in site. They have 2 more weeks before it normally hits.

Lainie-Hope you feel better. It must hurt. Did you take any pain relievers? Call your doc?

SNM will be receiving the DVDs I shipped back from Wednesday. And, I should be hearing from them too.

Shelley-At least it's not shoveling. Raking is not one of my fave things to do outside. It might be more social catching up with the neighbours.

Tneah-Fun with the boys gone??

BBL

They ain't gone yet!}( But when they are, my DH and I are headed over to the Palazzo on Saturday to see the Jersey Boys!:7 We booked a room even, so well, you know, time to break out the red wig. TMI? HA!

Would you guys please cross your fingers and toes (except Lainie, who needs to just rest please) that we can actually pull this weekend off without anything getting in the way?:) I wanna show my sweetie a good ole' time.;) Plus, its a chance to dress up, something I never get to do since we work at home most of the time.

I always sit here and talk to you guys before my last cardio session at night, its hard to motivate myself to go back and do more.

Jen, that stinks, no raise? Sorry to hear that.:-( But you are right, Friday is here! Well, almost, especially for you east coast lovelies.

OK, time get my rear in gear...I missed you today Leanne.:-(

Evening all!

LAINIE - I just can't believe you hurt your other ankle! You make all those boys at your house look after you, you hear?

Jennifer - is m/c Mastercard? I don't mind raking too much, except I have tons of huge trees including a very large black walnut so by the end of the season, I've about had it with the rake. It snowed so early last fall that we didn't get a chance to rake everything up, so now we have a bunch of half-rotting leaves to bag up.

Tneah - I'm sending lots of va-va-va-voom vibes your way for the weekend. Could you send some back? ;)
