Hey Ladies ...

Poochy

Cathlete
I am new to the forum .. but a long time Cathe fan and hooked on the hard core and intensity training DVD's ...

I don't get much time to post .. but I have read several post and keep coming back to check in with all of you. Just wanted to say HI!

I have managed to injure my knee (well the tendon under my knee) ..
and I am going insane not being able to do what I normally do (impact .. and lower body shaping) ..

Any fresh - safe ideas out there to combat the feeling of agitation over NOT being able to do my "normal intensity" training??? I have been walking (with a brace) and it did not hurt real bad .. lunges, squats, high step, impact moves are out .. or I will end up tearing it and then I WILL be out of service (surgery) ...

... all of you seem to have a lot of very good fitness and health advice out there .. just wondering??

Hi Poochy! Nice to hear from you. Be sure to ask your question in the Open Discussion Forum so that you get everyone elses input too. If you are injured to the point where you are using a brace to assist you and/or having to eliminate so many staple options from your program, I would definitely suggest having your knee evaluated by a doctor (if you haven't already).

Right now the best thing for you to do is use the RICE treatment for your knee. Be sure to ice the irritated area 3 times per day for 10 minutes at a time. Also incorporate mild stretching and strengthening exercises (which I'm sure your doctor will give you upon evaluation) to keep the area flexible and strong.

Until your doc's appointment you may also want to consider using a rowing machine for cardio since this is mostly upper body work. You can also continue to train your upper body and core as usual unless a position of a particular exercise causes any knee discomfort. You can also try to do some floorwork exercises such as non-weighted outer thigh raises, non-weighted inner thigh raises, any form of non-weighted leg raises that do not involve or irritate your knee in any way too.

I hope this helps! Let me know how you make out. Take Care!
