Ok, since I rarely see results of my efforts, or else fail to notice them, I am going to post this because I am oh-so-proud.
Back in high school I took a weightlifting class which was ultimatly the very beginning of my passion for exercise and fitness. Well, back then, I guess I was much stronger than the other girls and was nicknamed "Arnie" all around school. LOL!!
Anyway, we use to "max out", you know, on the bench press, to find a general gauge of our strength. Well, it was a big thing and there were only a few of us that could bench past 100 lbs and I was one of them. I think I could never get past 105 lbs and I weighed in back then at about 120, I think...
Well, I have a bench press at home but rarely use it cuz it is kinda weird even though it is Nautilus. I decided on a whim the other day to have my husband help me "max out". To all those who are unfamiliar, this is the amount of weight you can load on a barbell ( I have an olympic one, weighing 45 lbs) and lift ONCE. Well, I did a few warmup sets with the bar and started loading.
Well, I was able to bench 120 lbs pretty easily!!!! My husband, who is such a "guy" was like "Man, that was nothin'..lets go higher". I didn't want to cuz I was just messin' around and by that time I was tired, but i bet I coulda lifted 130!!! Of course I weigh 137 now, but OH WELL!!!
I was really excited about this because I never notice results in myself. I don't track my #age on exercises or the exercises I do so it is hard for me to ever see improvement. BUT I saw it here!!!!! Anybody else try this with great results????????
Thanks for listening!!!!
