Help with Tricep Pushups!

Hi Cathe (and hi to all my fellow forum members),

I am having a difficult time mastering the tricep pushups. Do you have any pointers for building up to doing this move with correct form and maximum benefit? I've tried doing them on my knees, but they still just feel "wrong." I'm sure something is lacking in my form! Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hilarie

Try doing them on a bench, or if you're working out at home, a knee-high table (sometimes I use my coffee table) with your feet/legs straight out in front of you. Or you could even use a step. Make sure your elbows point directly backwards--I've seen many people do the exersize incorrectly by letting their elbows kind of fan out to the side, almost like wings.

As you get stronger, you can start to elevate your feet to the same height as your bench/table, which makes the exersize a little more difficult. When you get REALLY strong, you can even place a weight on your lap.
