Cathlete
hope someone can help me out here . On saturday I did Cathe's PUB. I did not feel i lifted too heavy and was comfortable with the workout.

On saturday evening, my husband lifted my left arm to put around him and i felt pain, like something pulled. I said ow right away. Ever since then it hasnt felt right. I havent lifted since, so i've been resting it.

I felt the pain under my armpit (wow we have muscles there!) and it was uncomfortable but didnt bother my arm. The past couple days im having a harder time. When i raise my hand, like you would in school, i can only get half way up before the pain comes. I've tried some gentle stretching, but no luck. I also put my arm down and when i raised it (like a bicep curl) the pain was there again. I also noticed a bruise on my inner arm. The pain is now further down my inner arm and on the under side of my bicep.

Is this a pulled muscle? Ive never had anything like this or something last THIS long. It feels tight and painful. I'm not sure how to describe it. And its not going away. The bruise is ust weird. I dont remember hitting my arm or anything like that.

I assume its from the weightlifting but i felt fine at the time. Its either than or from my english bulldog yanking my arm off when i first let him out the door on a leash..

can anyone help diagnose me?? Sorry for the long post! Thanks in advance.
You'd think i have enough pangs being pregnant, now this on top of it

The only person who is qualified to diagnose you is a doctor so please go see one. If there is a problem they will be able to help you immediately. Doing a weight workout will often leave you sore but shouldn't leave you in pain with bruises for days.

Thank you. I realize only a doctor can diagnose me.
I was just asking to see if this had happened to anyone else or if anyone had some sort of idea.
I do not have a doctor, just an Ob. last time i tried to get a doctors appt they said sure, in three months, but i was sick a whole month before that and felt like i was dying and couldnt wait.

So yea..need to get a doctor.

But, was just checking to see if this happened to anyone else to get a better idea of what it could be. Since everyone here works out I was thinkign it'd be a helpful place to ask a question.

Thanks for the replies so far :)

I have pulled multiple muscles before without bruising, but once I was playing volleyball, which I did regularly. I had served overhand, which requires quite a bit of core tightening to get a nice hard serve, and I felt nothing.

A bit later in the game my abdomen began hurting, but just soreness and it didn't hurt real bad so I finished out our game and even then was OK.

After getting home a while later I was in quite a bit of pain and it got worse and worse. Finally had my next door neighbor come over and take me to emergency as I was thinking I had a hernia or something since the pain was bad and my ab was a bit swollen - even after icing for over an hour.

Emergency room doc was a quack and did a pelvic on me ! Thought I was one of those cry baby women who had cramps and thought they were dying (I have a very different opinion as he did the same thing on another lady that was in there and I heard her talking to her Mom wondering why he did it). Anyway, when he said I could go I asked him about the very large lump on my lower left side ab. He said "Oh, I didn't notice that". DUH DOC ! So he said I pulled my abs.

To cut to the chase - by the next morning I had bruises up past my navel, down the left side leg (front and back) and half way down my right leg. I iced like crazy but it just didn't get deep enough.

I must also mention that my vet friend figured it happened due to 3 C-Sections and the muscle tissue being weakened. Makes sense, but it was 7 years after my last surgery.

Not sure if this helps at all - other than I can say a bad enough tear will cause bruising.

Yep - see a doc if it doesn't seem like just a bruise because you "hit" your arm on something.

Forgive me for scolding you but if you are working out and trying to take care of yourself you need to get your buns to a doctor. Ask you OB for a recommendation, bust out the yellow pages, check your insurer's provider list, find an urgent care office. You need let the office know you have a problem and need immediate attention, or find another doctor. You can't be passive about your own health. I would venture to guess that the medical professionals here cringe when they read these posts. I know I do. Good luck and take care.
