Help me understand

I read a post earlier that said doing the step workouts on the risers made her bigger. Does that mean I will get BIGGER thighs than I already have? Should I not do step tapes??

Thanks

jessica,

I have been doing step for 17 years - I use two risers - my legs are lean and thin - they measure 18" at the widest point. So for me personally, the step has not given me bigger legs - it tends to lean them out more.

I am sure everyone is different.

Everybody is different, you just have to figure out what your "body type" is and what works for you. I tend to gain muscle on my bottom half very quickly & easily so doing high step/step for me tends to build my thigh muscles too much if I do them too often... that being said I do use my step & high step, like in Drill Max, B&G, etc... but I try to avoid too many full w/o that use the high step/step the whole time and have to mix up w/o like DM & B&G w/ lots of kickboxing and w/o like the Slim Series from beachbody to keep me from gaining too much muscle...

Sorry if that was confusing-basically you just need to do trial & error until you see how your body repsonds to certain things- that is how I figured out the high step is REALLY bad for me to do all the time, when I first got my high step I did it quite a bit and my thighs grew-granted it was all muscule & not fat but that wasn't the look I was going for! x(

Good luck & just try different things to see how your body reacts!

Hi Jessica,

My thighs naturally tend to be thick. Even when I was 117 pounds in high school and skinny as a rail, my legs were pretty thick for my size. I'm still fairly new (about 6 months) to stepping but have not seen the size of my legs increase. They've actually shrunk a little and look more sleek now. I use 2 to 4 risers depending on the workout.
