Help me find a home for this baby!

I'm going nuts here. Someone found him wandering the streets & dropped him off at town hall. One of our employees took him home, but she already has 2 dogs & she had problems walking 3 at the same time. Now he's at the shelter, which is disgustingly filthy, poorly maintained & recently had a parvo outbreak.

We think he's part dachsund & possibly part mini doberman. He weighs less than 10 lbs, is a young adult, fully housebroken, very well trained & just about the sweetest little boy in the world. I'm seriously considering taking him home myself--he's the cutest little cuddlebug--but I'm afraid Max & Penny would be too much for the tiny dude.

If there's anyone at all in the tristate area who's interested let me know, I'll see if I can bring him to you!

Well, he was found 8 days ago. The shelter holds him for 7 days before allowing adoption in case someone is looking for him. And they do scan for chips.

It seems like someone just decided they didn't want him anymore. He's well groomed, well fed & well trained, just homeless. He's so full of love, all he needs is a place where someone will love him back. :(

OH Laura!

It just breaks my heart to hear stories like this. How can someone look at a dog like that (or any dog for that matter) and think they are just disposable:( Bless you for trying to find him a home! I hope someone steps forward soon.

OMG! Do NOT show this to my kids! They've been begging me.

I'm not looking at this again, but I certainly hope he finds a great home!!!

Gayle! Your family would be perfect for him! C'mon! I'd feel so good about that! He's trained, he's great w/adults AND children, he's totally laid back, & he'd be your BFF! I'll meet you Monday! PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE!!!!!!!

that is so nice of you to get him off the streets so he has a chance. i think gayle subconciously wants him since she just popped in to say she didnt'.....reverse psychology...:D....

and also

if you decided to keep him, i think max and penny would welcome him, and show him the ropes.....three peas in a pod....;)

LMAO! Poor fella has met Max & Penny. Penny was all over him--she just wanted to play but she's like 3X his size & he was a-skeered. :p

Maybe he just needs time to get used to the larger dogs? Oh, I wish I (a) lived in your area and, if I did, (b) could have a dog - but my condo does not allow dogs.

OMG...I am sooo tempted....We always said we wanted another dog but my house is sooo tiny.....What should I do!?!?!

ACK...I actually called my DH to ask him since he's not home yet. No dice. :( He's right...the house is tiny and I already have 1 large dog and 1 child under my feet all of the time. If I take this little guy home I'm liable to trample him cause there's not enough room. It makes me sad cause he's freakin' ADORABLE but I have to admit DH has a point....

Gayle...Looks like he's all yours!!!!!!:):):)

*chants* Gayle! Gayle! Gayle!

Loving a pet is very good for children, by the way. It teaches them compassion, among other things. :)
