Help - Heel Pain

Happy Labor Day, all!

Mid last week, I did MIC and didn't feel like I hurt myself or pulled something - other than my calves and arches were burning a lot during the hi/lo (been doing a lot of step rather than hi/lo lately). Then I sat down on the couch for dinner and to watch a movie. When the phone rang, I got up and notice my heel really hurt! It hurts to the touch when I press on the side of it (inner side - within an inch from the bottom the heel on the side). It also hurts when I stand on it and put pressue on it. I did step works today with 5 intervals from Imax and notice that when I'm working out - it feels a little better, but after it can throb a little and hurt to the touch. I also added some Leaner Legs in and of course doing leg work, pushing off the heel caused some pain.

Any ideas of what this could be? TIA

Hi Tygra! How is your heel today? MIC & IMax are both high impact workouts...maybe give it a few days break and come back with something not so intense especially since you have been doing more step then Hi/Low lately. Ice when you find time...How are your shoes? If broken down, you may need new. Let us know how you are doing. Hope it passes soon. Many times I have had twinges/pain in my heel to find that it goes away within a few days of modifying or resting. Possibly you even bruised it?? GOOD LUCK!

HI Debbie! Thanks so much for you answer and sweetness! Appreciate it. I did take some advil yesterday and put some ice on and whoola - this morning it felt great, didn't notice it at work at all. Then tonight I did KPC and the drills from KM and it's sore again, no where near how bad it's been the last week - which makes me think it's something muscular - from overuse? Hard to slow down, you know! I just got the Ryka Rhythm II in early summer, with arch supports (I have a AA width foot - so frustrating finding shoes that fit well) -they've felt pretty good. I just changed out my arch supports too, yesterday. Will need to look at new shoes maybe??

Thanks again!!:)

Does it hurt when you have your shoes on?

I have heel and arch pain often in one foot. I can make it through a workout and I'm fine with my shoe on but if sitting for a while or when I wake up in the morning it hurts when I stand.

You can try insoles in your sneakers, Lady Foot Locker makes a good pair that is poditriast approved and cheaper then orthotics. Also you may need new sneaks. I love Asics running sneakers and I have inserts in them.

Also try streching especially your calves and hamstrings if they are tight then cause pain in your heel.

If you have any thought that you might have plantar fasciitis, I say get thee to a dr. asap. I waited and I think that's why mine will probably need surgery to ever feel better.

www.heelspurs.com is a great website with info on PF.

One of the big signs is heel pain upon waking.

I have foot pain when I sit for a while and then get up. I walk around and then am fine. I have been stretching my feet lately and also I tend to not put my feet flat on the floor when I sit so I am trying to make sure to watch that too. They feel alot better now. Don't know if that helps.
