HELP! Can't...stop....

Wish I could help! But just so you don't feel alone, I made chocolate chip cookies yesterday (I make goooood cookies!) and can't stop eating them!

Tomorrow is another day, how about we vow to eat no sugar tomorrow?

Susan

you need the right fats and a lot of protein

to make that stop. Protein. Fat. If you can eat fish, try salmon. It has both the protein and good fats. Or, if you don't like it how about fish oil capsule?

I hear you. With my last period I gained 5 pounds. At least 3 pounds of fat. It was the brownies. They called my name. Three days in a row. And the ice cream. And oh yeah there was a hot dog in there on a white bun. And handful of buttered popcorn. Did I take my own advice? Only when I remembered too. boo hiss. But, getting back to low-sodium bacon, hard boiled eggs, a spinach salad with home roasted chicken, avocado and balsamic vineagar did it.

What fun is that!?!?! HA ha! I'm totally kidding with you!

I once read an article that when it is that time of the month, your body naturally burns more calories and that is another reason (than hormones, etc.) that we crave more food than usual. It said that even though we eat a bit more during that time of the month, we burn more and so, it evens out. I honestly have no idea if it's true but I can tell you that I usually eat a bit more the week prior to mine and then lose my appetite the week of, which sort of evens it all out in the end.

I believe it's true.:)
Buff Mother's Hormonal timing goes into great detail about the hormonal ups and downs, and gives some excellent pointers on how to make them work for you. She calls it Hormonal Induced Failure. Her book is a very good read and offers excellent suggestions on how to get it under control so it doesn't sabotage your plan.

Today was the worst but the weekend was all together a calorie disaster so I kow how you feel. Sometimes I just say Arrrrrghhhhh...... and give in. but I know I am commited to my health most of the time and I am going to tyr not to guilt myself into depression for devouring not one but probably the equivalent of 2 pieces of pecan chocolate pie while watching grey's anatomy on tivo.
I am an emotional rollercoaster at this time of the month and right now while I set here writing this I want to say... I mean yell OK WE ARE NOT PERFECT. Yes I am so full right now I could not suck my gut in to save my life but setting here brooding about it will not change it. What I know I will be doing is getting up tomorrow and kicking some but with Cathe with all this extra energy I am going to have due to all those carbs...:)
Yeah I know sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but we all normally get over this in a few days and get back to our normal selves. The ones that stay true to our programs and are happy with ourselves. :)
So today I am going to throw caution to the wind and be OK with those extra calories...and trust me there were some calories today...but its Ok...

Rachel:)

They are when you don't have a freezer full of Hershey's Symphony bars.

Those are clean. Right?

Stacey

I've never tried those. Probably a good thing:) I do have snickers and milky way in the freezer right now;)
Walmart has a 3lb hershey's chocolate tombstone that I've had in my hands twice, then put it back. Now how's that for restraint? It's driving me crazy though, I really want to purchase it:eek:

This makes sense to me. As soon as my period actually starts I could careless about food for a few days. It's a major change. I'm good for about two weeks then chocolate starts calling my name again!

Hmm, what are these hormonally induced cravings you speak of? Mine seem to be ALL THE TIME! Eh, I guess that's not totally true, but I generally can't tie my mini free for alls to my hormones. Usually it's because I haven't been eating enough protein or enough calories and my body goes nuts. As I eat more I tend to binge less. Amazing how that works, no?

I hear you on the protein thing! If I'm eating a decent amount of protein than I can Kinda/sorta keep my calories in check. If not, look out! Its binge time!

take care, Lynn M.
