I am a Cathe watcher and I am becoming more & more interested in trying her out. My only issue is that I do not have a step and I cannot invest in one right now. I ordered her catalog, but I still have a problem trying to figure out what, if any, tapes do not require a step.

I watch her on FitTv and I am becoming a fan .... without even doing one workout to hoot!

Hi,
I'm a big Cathe fan and have almost all of her DVDs. If you are looking for some fun workouts that don't use the step, try Cardiokicks or Kick Punch and Crunch. Her weight workouts are also excellent and you could probably work on the floor instead of using the bench. When you can afford it you will want to purchase the step because Cathe makes the best step videos. Try looking at garage sales. I found one at a garage sale for about $10.00. Too bad I didn't need one.

Goodluck to you and have fun with the workouts.

I bought a club step at a yeard sale 2 weeks ago for 7 bucks. I always stop at yard sales because someone is always selling fitness equipment.

For stepless Cathe workouts, consider also the video version of the Cross-Train Express ("CTX" to veteran Cathe-ites) Kickbox workout. (Note too that this particular workout has one of the best core and ab sequences Cathe has ever coughed up.) Also, although this does have a step segment, also consider the Maximum Intensity Cardio video; this has a hi/lo warm-up and cardio segment that is really great.

And, although this does have a ~10-minute step segment, consider also the CTX 10-10-10 video; this has a kickbox warm-up and cardio segment followed by a hi/lo segment, which is THEN followed by the step segment and upper body training.

Do you have a Play It Again Sports near you? I just traded a step for the full gym size step and got it used for $50 (its usually around $100). If you decide to get a step, I'd highly recommend getting one like Cathe uses - a lot of steps are not as long, which I found made doing some moves on top of the step challenging. Also, when you're jumping over your step, the longer it is, the harder! Good luck!!!

I have knee problems and sometimes use Cathe's step workouts without the step. Because I do step aerobics a lot, there's a mark in the carpet of my bedroom where I always use my step. I use that as a guide. I learned Rhythmic Step this way. Maybe you can use some tape to mark off an area, although that might ruin your carpet and snag your feet...

You might want to try Fascist Death Mart (Wal-Mart) I never buy anything from that dump but I did buy the original Step for $23.00 which included a Cathe video.

Thank you all. I have limited access to internet, so don't take me as rude. I am going to take it slow and probably try a workout without the step and then 'step' up.

Thanks again for the well wishes.

I got one by posting an add on www.craigslist.org
It's a local swapmeet/sales kind of board. I put up an add for wanting a club size step, and got a step, 2 cathe's and another reebok video for $20!!!!

Wal Mart also has the home size step for about $25 but you may not be able to do some of the moves on it size its much shorter.
