Did you end up hiking this past weekend?? Where did you end up going?? Getting hot out there, isn't it?? Dh went with his buddies this weekend, and came home a bit earlier than usual, cause the heat was a little much for them. I hope to get to go at least one more time before the true 100's set in, which reminds me, got to ask for some time off from work. Enjoy your day!

We did our first hike on 4/26 which was Wind Cave. We haven't hiked since until today. My MIL had more Dr. appts., so that is what held us up. Anyways, today we went to the Superstitions. We went up the right side of Treasure Loop to Green Boulder 1 mile, Down Prospectors View .7 miles, across Jacobs Crosscut .85 miles to Treasure Loop and then down 1/2 mile. It was a lot of fun. I went off trail for a while and my SIL just rested. I went straight up for about 35 minutes then just turned around and came down. I got to a point where I stopped under this boulders shade for some water. When I stopped the ground started to give in, when I looked down, there was nothing but snake holes in the little hill I was standing on. Thank God none of them decided to come out and see me. The trails there seem to take you steadily up as soon as you start them. We will be exploring the entire mountain. :D We got there around 8:30 and got home around 12:30. The heat was just fine, but it was rather windy.

BTW: Does your dh know what the hike is called that takes you to the waterfall at those mountains?

Heather! I am so glad you had a good hike! I'll have to ask my dh what the name of that particular trail is, I can't remember. But I did remember one of my other favorite hikes in the Superstitions.....Peralta Trail. We have done this one a couple of times. It is about a 4 mile hike, not too hard(we brought the kids, if that is any clue), and the best part is we hike it to Fremont Saddle, which has a spectacular view of Weaver's Needle. I think that is why it is one of my favorites....nice hike, and what a cool place to stop, have a snack and enjoy the view. The trailhead is just off the 60 in AJ. There are longer hikes you can do from there, Tom has done quite a few of those....the one I want to do is out to the little lone pinon pine you see at the Saddle as you look towards Weaver's Needle, but we usually take the kids and their hike limit is usually 5 miles, then they get crabby. AARRGGHH with the snakes.....I haven't run across many out there and hope not too, although I hear they are much more prevelent in the summer months. We did see a confused small baby rattler on that particular trail last Dec, I thought they all headed to holes in the winter??

I'm going to have to check out Peralta trail. We did "A" mountain today. That one sure was challenging. Have you done it?
