Heart Rate Monitor Question

I have the Polar F6.

When I start my workout,I press Start and then "Own Zone" appears for 5 minutes. I usually do my warm up during this time. Is that what I am suppose to do? Usually, my "in zone heart rate" is around 137-153, the past 2 weeks my "in zone heart rate" was 146-161 and yesterday my "in zone heart rate" was 124-140.

How do I determine what my REAL "in zone" heart rate is?

Is there something that I can do to set my "in zone heart rate" so that it will be the same all the time. If so, how do I go about doing this.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi,
I have a Polar F11 and it allows me to "skip" the Ownzone by pressing the start button twice (so start your HR monitor and when it starts calculating Ownzone, press start again). If I do that, it defaults to the last Ownzone used. HTH.

I had this problem too. Now I don't start my HRM until I am warm and just starting to breathe harder - usually toward the end of my warmup. The Ownzone that shows up is more consistent then (in the higher end of my aerobic range) and is in line with the intensity level that I want to work out at. My heart rate at the beginning of my workout is variable depending on time of day, stress level, etc., which I think affects Ownzone calculations done during that time, but the variability goes away once I am warmed up.
