Heart Rate and Calories Burned

Hi everyone;

Just curious--I'm trying to figure out just how inflated my Cardio Zone HR monitor is. Would you guys mind posting your average heart rate and calories burned for your workouts? It would give me an idea of how far off I am,

I've been tracking my total workout time; time in my H.R. zone (minus warmup, cooldown and other sections that don't keep my H.R. up); average heart rate (in zone); and total calories for the entire workout. My heart rate averages between 150 and 160, and my monitor shows that I'm burning over 800 calories for an hour-long workout (approximately 45 min. in my cardio zone). While I'd love for this to be true, I'm sure it can't be.

Thanks for the info,

Carol F

Pretty inflated. Unless you are 300+ pounds. Do you have the weight set right?

I am 130 pounds and working at the same level, same HR, I burn around 300-400 per hour. Typically almost all Cathe's fall into that range for me (that are cardio). Weight workouts are usually around 200.

Sorry to bust your bubble.:)

Thanks Janice;

No bubble to burst, actually. I knew I was way off. But your post helps. My monitor doesn't have a weight setting, so that's probably the difference. The heart rate seems to be on--if I do a 10 second count, it's usually close. I guess I'll just half the calories burned and take it with a huge grain of salt (low sodium, of course).

Thanks,

Carol F
