Healthy food stinks! Literally!

Why is this? Seriously, everything I eat smells like crap, literally.

Take broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, salmon or other fish, tuna, etc...these are staples in my diet and everytime I steam a bag of broccoli in the microwave DH thinks Georgie our Newfie had an 'accident!":p

Cooking fish is another stinker...tuna is a stinker...egg whites even kinda smell...

How come so many healthy and good for you foods have to smell so bad during the cooking or steaming process? I am always apologizing for smelling up the place.:7

LOL!! Last week, I steamed a bag of veggies at work and everyone thought that a skunk had snuck into the unit! Well, not really, they just said that it smelled like "skunk-@ss"!!! I work with a bunch of guys....what do you expect? Manners???;-)

ha ha.............

And it doesn't just stink when you cook it!!!!

Broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, fish!!!! It stinks cooking and *ahem* well, you know!!! :+

Tneah,

LOL! You are right! My house smells so bad for hours after baking fish.
Hey, what bag do you use to microwave your veggies? Everyone tells me not to use plastic because it seeps into the food and becomes toxic?

Oh, that is so true!! My dh HATES when I cook broccoli or cauliflower, he thinks it's the worst!! And cooking fish definitely stinks up the place for a while!

Honestly? I steam them in the bag..and take my chances.;) I figure sooner or later they will find that everything is toxic,I mean as I type this I am listening to a news story that says spray on tanning is bad for you now!:)

I don't steam most veggies and such. I mostly like to grill, roast and sautee them. Brussels sprouts are really good cut in half and sauteed in a little olive oil until lightly browned with a squeeze of lemon juice and a touch of sea salt right before serving.

I occasionally steam zucchini and yellow squash for a change of pace. Thankfully, they don't stink. :)

>And you don't dare microwave fish at work. You won't have a
>friend in the place.

LOL, this is so true? People come wandering in from all over the building, going, "what the *&%$ is that smell?"

File this under TMI, but the other day DH dumped some forgotten, leftover cooked broccoli into the compost bin in our kitchen. I came into the room, caught the whiff, and said "Honey! Do you have to do that in the kitchen?!" He was so offended that I thought it was him, LOL.

Funny topic, tneah!!

One of my former colleagues was some kind of high-protein diet for a while, and he'd make fish every lunch period, microwaving it in the common lunch area. I don't know what kind of fish it was, but it just reeked!
