Healthy Eating Check In 7/5

I actually worked out this morning- gasp- for the first time in a week or two. I did PS Chest, Shoulders, Triceps/Back, Biceps, Abs. I feel like I'm getting into the mental groove- knock on wood- to eat healthy. I think I'm going to make some fruit salad for breakfast. My mom picked up a big variety at the market yesterday :)

Good Morning,
I haven't been around much the last couple of days b/c we were doing renovations to our house.My brother did most of the work and he brought his family with him.3 kids and a wife.So we had 4 kids in the house,4 adults,1 BIG dog and 2 Guniea Pigs.
We painted the kitchen,porch and we built a new deck for the front of the house.I just wanted a few new steps....but now I have another lounging area.Its great though.
So,you can only imagine what my eating was like.The kitchen was off limits so everything was take out.It wasn't a nice weekend!
It could have been alot worse though.My SIL ate alot of crap.I would have been sick if I ate what she ate.
Anyway,I am looking at doing the July rotation today.I know I said I was doing the S&H rotation but I don't like S&H.I tried it for one week and its just not my cup of tea.Its to slow....I like to get things done and over with.
My new work schedule starts today;( I am going to be working over 40 hours a week and this week I am working saturday all day.I am working everyday except for Sunday.We have to cover some shifts for people who are gone on training.Our boss says that Aug won;t be as bad but people will be going on holidays then.

Good morning Lori and Gina...Gina, I do like Slow & Heavy but haven't done it while I am doing the P90X rotation. I am glad to hear your Mom got some good food in the house...:)...Yesterday for me was tricky as my DH and I went north of here for a 4th of July race I do every year. We took alot of fruit and after the 5 mile run ( I was in a new division and placed 2nd!!!!) , we ate lots of watermelon on the way home. I made a salad when I got home and then to my sisters for a BBQ. The only thing I cheated with were some Tostito chips (chips were always my downfall) but my dinner was a Boca Burger, grilled vegeys and lots of salad and I passed on the buttered bread and the desserts until I got home and made a fruit shake for my dessert....Lori....work sounds like it will be tough and I wouldn't look forward to it much myself. Sometimes though weekends do get hectic as yours did. I hope things will go smoothly for you today...:)...Carole
 
I had my best day of eating yesterday that I have had in a long time. I plan to continue it today. Do you consider eating a Myoplex Lite Shake at night, clean or healthy eating?? What about popcorn, the light kind?? The salt is not good, but other than that, personally, I think it is ok. What do you think?

I don't know whats in a Myoplex lite shake? Any fat? Probaly not much and fairly clean although all of us have different thoughts on "Clean" I would think!...:)...as for popcorn look for fat too and it does probably have alot of sodium which can be not heathly for people with High Blood Pressure. The way I have been eating I would probably prefer fruit or beans with more nutritional value rather than popcorn, but then again I have been very strict and have lost my craving for chips,popcorn and the other salty stuff I liked!!.....:)...Carole
 
Hi Lori,

I'm glad you had such a great eating day :) I think a Myoplex Lite is just fine. While it's not a whole food, I recall that it has lots of protein, low fat, and many vitamins. Light popcorn is fine as well in my book as far as snacks go. I'd definitely classify it as a healthier snack aside from the sodium.

Major congratulations on finishing 2nd in a new division! I have so much respect for runners- I stink at running. I am sure you burned off those Tostitos :)

Fruit salad for breakfast sounds wonderful!

I don't know why I started a Healthy Eating Checkin because I have not been able to participate.

Last night I was in the ER with severe stomach cramps and I haven't really eaten much over the past few days - I am seeing a gastroenterologist on Thursday and having a gastroscopy/colonoscopy to see what is happening.

I'll continue to check in, to at least give you all some support!

I've already cut out processed sugar, white flour, meat and upped the fruit and veggies.

This week I am cutting out the pasta, potatoes, rice I have with dinner. So as of today it's an all veggie dinner with loads of beans, I hope:) Sofar I have been unsuccesful in replacing my lunch sandwhich with a big salad. Oh wel, little steps will get me there too, right.

Liz...we have missed you...sorry to hear about the stomach cramps, hope you are much better soon...:)...Dutchie good for you....I think little steps are great! Not many of us can cut EVERYTHING out at once so be proud of yourself...:)...Carole
 
I am going to aim for the 90/10 rule. 90% good food, 10% treats. last night I had 2 Healthy Smart or something likie that, fudge bars. All of my ffod throughout the day was perfect, except for that. If I deny myself too much, I go over the deep end, and it is not good.
