Headaches

naynay

Cathlete
I keep getting headaches and was wondering if it could be that I a, not getting enough nutrients.

Naynay,
I guess it could be but there are a lot of other things that could be triggers too. Do you know what type of headaches you get? I get migraines and some of my many triggers are: hormone fluctuations (beginning and ending of period), food (MSG, some preservatives, some food colors, too much sugar; some people trigger off of aged cheeses, chocolate, wine, etc), too much sun and/or dehydration, or stress. Having a diagnosis and knowing what sort of headaches you get may help you figure out what is triggering your headaches.
Good luck figuring it out!

Oh NayNay,

I am so sorry that you are getting them at all. They STINK! I started getting migraines after I had babies - my doctor said it was due to hormonal changes. (these darn hormones!) When I feel one coming on, I drink plenty of fluids, limit my caffeine, try to rest, and take exederine. I have tried the prescription headaches pills and they make me so dizzy and gooney.

I hope you feel better soon!

Any "diet" sweeteners can cause headaches so if you drink crystal lite, diet sodas, other low calorie drinks, or eat low cal anything, try eliminating them and see if that helps. (You'd be looking to avoid aspertame, splenda, equal, any artificial sweeteners like that)

Good luck and I'm sorry you're suffering w/ these. I'm a headache weenie so I sympathize completely.

Are you doing more cardio than usual? Dehydration will give you terrible headaches and sometimes people don't increase fluid enough with increased activity.

For a few months in the spring/ summer I was getting awful headaches regularly, and I've never been a headache person. In July I had my wisdom teeth out and voilà! No more headaches.

It can't be artificial sugar because I don't use them. It could be stress but i am not positive also It might be strong scents but again I'm not positive. I have been using scented lotions from like bath and body work for a while. I know one scent definitely gives me headaches but I hardly ever use it. So I am just trying to narrow it down. I am taking allergy medicine in case it my allergies acting up but I have been forgetting to take it. I try and drink lots of water and eat a little bit of food and that normally helps. So maybe its dehydration.

Thanks everyone

There are so many reasons for headaches it could give you a headache thinking about it:eek: I had a headache for 6 months earlier this year. I have many triggers for headaches. I finally went to a neurologist to tease out the reasons for my headaches. Several of the triggers we have found so far are hormones, allergies, GERD, dehydration and sleep issues. As we identify and treat each of the triggers I get fewer headaches. So if you haven't found all of your triggers keep searching.
