Having fun with the audio options

ShyWolf

Cathlete
I got my BB dvds today exactly at the time I expected to.

Previewed Step Blast and Step, Jump and Pump and couldn't help but play with the options of just hearing Cathe, normal and the music louder ...what fun! Yup I must sound like such a dork but I just kept playing with the audio button on my remote control to see if I noticed a difference and it works. I had read in some places that folks didn't notice a difference and I was a bit worried LOL
I'm happy I finally got my DVDs and thankfully all the discs go with the corresponding package.

I did the same thing. I just kept going back and forth. I love the audio only option. It is nice to know that when I can barely talk, Cathe is also breathing very hard.

My 17 year old DD was happy to see you could choose vocals only so she can play her music. She did think Cathe was pretty cool to add a Nirvana song on the workouts (even though she barely recognized it). I'll have to play around with the audio button on my remote to see if that makes a difference in the music louder option.

New toys, what fun!

Hi Shywolf, well I did the same thing today and wow you can hear them on the step!! It was weird. My 8 year son kept saying mom you can't hear the music. He is so use to hearing loud music when Im doing a video. Well that was when I was just playing around with the music. I would play it loud when Im doing the workout. I really love the loud options.

Does anyone else think that the music in the "normal" option on the strength workouts isn't loud enough? I'm glad for the "music louder" option here, but it only brings the volume of the music up to what it SHOULD be in the first place.

I personally don't like vocal music in workouts, unless it's just a nondescript phrase that appears here and there. If the music is loud enough, the singer's voice conflicts with the instructor's voice. If the background music is music only (no vocals, or very few...like some occasional "rock it" or "pump it up" or whatever), it can be played at a higher volume, so that the instructor IS like the singer.

Kathryn,

Yes I thought I noticed this too on some. Also, I think the music options vary on all the DVD's. For example on Push Pull, throughout most of the workout, the music louder option doesn't work. Also on the vocals only option (in some sections) you can hear the music (very low) and others I couldn't hear any music at all.

>Just wanted to add that I'm still enjoying these workouts tremendously.

I can tell a difference in the audio on all my workouts, but Push/Pull definitely is not as noticeable. I was doing Step Blast this morning and it is very noticeable. This is only my second time with this workout and had to use the normal audio option because I could barely hear Cathe on the louder music option. I will definitely use louder music once I get the routine down. I can't wait to do Step, Jump, and Pump again so I can use louder music. It hasn't come up again in my rotation yet since I received the DVDs. And Kick, Punch, and Crunch sounds awesome.

Edited to say that my DVD player is hooked up to a surround sound system and I listen to Cathe in stereo. I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not.

Thanks Debbie! Great to see you too! Sorry- I had really planned to change my username but never did figure out how? If you did, please let me know! Anyway, I figured it shouldn't really be a problem since I don't post much anyway. Oh btw, I'm sure enjoying those Body Blasts, they are great just like I expected.

:)

RE: Hey Debbie H!

You two made me strain my little pregnant brain trying to figure out who was who up there, then I remembered to look at the number of POSTS, which made me notice that

DEBBIE DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE ALMOST AT 3000? You are going to over take Cathe in no time. We are going to need to call this "the DebbieH forum that Cathe occasionally visits" (he he - it's okay, just tell me to get back to that prego forum and stay there!!)

I agree. It's especially quiet in Push Pull but Super Sets sounds normal on my setup.

I like both styles though I think it's better to use instrumental music for the more complex parts of a workout.

I don't mind vocal music in workouts and I don't mind intrumental music either. I do mind techno music though and I would be horrified if Cathe or any of my other favourite instructors decided to use all techno instrumental "music". The music to Step Blast is the WORST music I've ever heard on a workout. I'm used to hearing music that I don't really like and sometimes the vocals are the only thing that make the difference for me. Unfortunately I found I absolutely HATED most of the music in Step Blast and that is unusual even for me. If it wasn't for the audio only option, and the fab Step, Jump & Pump, I would have returned it for a refund. For me, the music is THAT BAD. I liked the warm up song but don't think the remix was very good. I haven't the words (polite or impolite) to describe just how dreadful the rest of the music is. I don't even think it suits what looks like a fantastic workout. Happily the rest of the music in the series is alright and I quite like some of the tunes Cathe picked.

Go on flame me all you techno and remix fans. I don't care ;) :D

Hey girl, don't you have only a week to go? I can't wait to hear all about it. Hope this finds you as comfy as can be. Can't wait to see a pix of that lil' miracle!
