I was wondering if any of you have ever been to one of the Sandals beach all inclusive resorts??? If so which ones and what was your experience? Was it really... ALL inclusive?? I would love to hear some vacation details...
I've not been to a Sandals resort, but I know people who have. The reviews on these places are mixed - some of the Sandals resorts are excellent, and some of them are so-so. I have read more positive reviews of the Beaches and Couples resorts. But, again, I don't have first-hand experience myself. (I sure WISH I did! I would be more than willing to be a paid reviewer of all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean!)
As for the question of whether they are really all-inclusive... the answer is they are generally pretty darn close. Usually the only things that are not included in your lodging rate are certain activities like scuba diving, kayak rental, etc. Your meals and beverages (including alcoholic beverages) are all included in the nightly rate. As are certain activities like nightly entertainment and dancing. It varies by resort, but each one will tell you what is and isn't included on their website.
One of the nice thing about the chain resorts like Sandals and Couples is that you can usually get island-hopper deals where you can stay at one resort for a few nights, and then go to a different resort in the same chain for a few more nights and it costs less than if you were to book the two hotels separately. I know one couple who did this in Jamaica with the Sandals resorts. Sounded like fun!
