I'm going to repost here something I posted on the VF forums.
I did not join VF soon enough because I think I've been cheated on eBay. First, I think the guy might have shill bid on me and second I think he sent me a bootleg DVD (Cathe's Power Hour). Of course I didn't realize this until I received the DVD and it was very glitchy (goes very pixelly and that sort of thing). So I did a search on here and on Cathe.com and found info I wish I'd read before I bid. I think I might have been shilled (not sure if that's a correct verb) because I was outbid in the last seconds, and then shortly after received a second chance offer saying the highest bidder backed out. In retrospect that happened awfully quickly but I was a bit too eager to get the DVD so I went ahead and bought it.
In addition to the bad quality of the DVD, I found the ifpi W400 on the back of the DVD, which I read about on another thread as a sign the DVD was made in China or something. Of course I don't see this on any of my legit Cathe cds (which I know are legit from sources like Cathe.com or Collage). I also just realized that it's in a white case and none of my other Cathe DVDs are in white cases--they're all black. Can someone with Power Hour tell me if their case is white or black? I'm trying to build a case if this is really a bootleg so that I can feel confident in giving negative feedback to this person.
BTW, he has 100% positive feedback, but there are red flags I should have caught. 1) he has only been a member since March but already has almost 200 feedback, much of which has been aquired in the last week, so he's very busy. Of course, I know legit people can also sell quite a bit in a hurry, too. 2) all his recent stuff is now "private" on the feedback. You can see the feedback but not what was bought and sold (though I realized I could search his completed listings and there I noticed he's sold quite a bit of certain Cathe DVDs at a low price--too good to be true low price, that is).
I am just posting this as a warning to others, though I don't know if I'm allowed to put this guy's user id here or anything. I also want to know if anyone else thinks this stuff sounds fishy. I don't want to turn anyone off buying DVDs on eBay, since I've had some good experiences and I sometimes sell some of my used DVDs myself (but I would never sell one like this that I think is bootlegged).
Anyway, point is that even good feedback is not a guarantee of a good seller. However, there are plenty of great sellers on eBay selling legit DVDs. I think basically if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.
