Morning!
LOVE!
LOVE!
(I tried to make those colored and big, but I couldn't.....)
I decided today that I would watch the Kettlebell Way workout and sort of watch it and go through the general moves without the bell to see how things went.
I put in the DVD and started to watch, but the first thing was Swings and they just looked so dang fun that I decided to just do that one exercise with the KB.
It was soo fun!
So fun, in fact, that I ended up doing the entire workout with the KB, subbing a dumbbell for things that had overhead presses, because I simply can't press 8 kg (17.6 pds) successively with one arm.
One great thing about the 8kg KB is that it makes my 5kg dumbbell feel lightweight! LOL. I was surprised that I was able to use the 8kg without much trouble, even for the squats.
I LOVE THIS WORKOUT. I love the people in it. I love taking one minute breaks LMAO. I did squats and lunges, you guys. Me! I HATE squats and lunges! I was huffing and puffing and SWEATING. ME. SWEATING! I hardly ever sweat! And it wasn't that "It's so hot I'm sweating ewww" sweat. It was that "burning fat now and sweat is trickling down the backs of my legs" sweat.
I was so into it that I was about ready to....puke.
Really. It was all going so great and then at the very end (luckily...?) I started to feel like I could upchuck. But it was quick passing and I was able to finish the workout and feel great.
Now that I'm finished with my smoothie, I'm ready for a massive nap.
One sort of bummer with the workout is that there is no cool down or post-stretch. They just do the last exercise and then without a goodbye or anything, it's just finished. So I did a little stretch on my own.
Did I mention I love this DVD?
Oh man, I'm serious, I need to nap NOW.
ROBIN - I'm so sorry to have made you excited to see Da Bird LOL. I haven't seen any birds lately, probably because the birds know that if they fly around that they'll melt in the humidity and heat that is melting us in Tokyo now. Nevertheless, I put out seed on my balcony. It's not directly in the sun, but will the seeds be okay? I wouldn't want to give anybirdy a tummy ache.
>Our new target opened yesterday and DD and I went for a look-see. I looked at the kettlebells.
MUWAHHAAAA! You should get one. They're small and don't take up room like a set of dumbbells. Or a barbell. Or a Fitness Ball. Or a Step. Achem.
Anyway, we're looking forward to hearing about your weekend. I'd wish you a fantastic time, but you're gone already!
>I'm not sure if any of you read any of the threads I've posted in, but our micro lab identified a fairly dangerous bacteria. It is highly infectious to lab workers, so we all have to take a three week long multiple antibiotic regime. Pretty scary, but pretty exciting for a microbiologist.
Yikes! And cool! That must really be fascinating. Sounds like a movie.
JENNIFER - I must be having another of those moments, but for the life of me, I cannot find your family's video. The link doesn't take me to any page in particular and when I do a search, hundreds of things come up.
Are you enjoying your weekend? How is the manure? How are the flowers? How are Madrid and Seville?
MICHELE - You wrote such a wonderful post to Jennifer about the gift-giving.
>I'm awfully glad you weren't hurt during the earthquake, and that you didn't have to evacuate, what with your being naked and all . Do you get dressed when those hit -- I mean -- just in case you have to evacuate?
When they hit, I'll sit up in bed and look around for a minute and think, "Do I need to get my bra?" but then I'm usually frozen there until the quake stops, and then I go and turn the TV on.
You know, I read a really interesting thing about earthquakes that I thought I would pass on to you guys, in case you're faced with one.
You know how you're always taught to go under a big table or go under the bed or go under the threshold? That is apparently the WORST places to go. The REAL place you should be going is directly to the SIDE of big objects.
If you are in an earthquake, you should lay down to the SIDE of the sofa. Or to the SIDE of your bed. These big furniture objects will create a safe pocket for when other things come crashing down. If you are under the bed and things crash down, you will be crushed under the bed. If you are at the side of the bed, the bed will be crushed and you'll be in an air pocket. Makes a lot more sense than what we've always been taught. This is advice coming from an earthquake rescue expert.
Okay, lecture is done.
How are you DOMS? I'm kind of...well, okay very scared how things will be for me tomorrow morning.
Did I mention that I LOVE the Kettlebell Way? Are you going to be looking into getting other KB workouts? Not...not that I'm going to...................Unless you do, that is.
SHANNON - Thanks for the well wishes on the earthquake.
>And I get a kick out of how calmly you take all these earthquakes.
Yeah, it's so normal to have them. Apparently there is supposed to be a humongo one in Tokyo sometime in the next 30 years. I don't mind the actual earthquakes from time to time, but I do mind knowing that "within 30 years" info!! Sheesh, every little tremble and I've gotta think, "Is THIS the ONE? Do I need to get my bra?"
>Have fun with those kettlebells! No matter how much I hear people rave about them, I still haven't been tempted. Can you believe that?
You're missing out, woman! Actually though, this is sort of a cardio-haters dream cardio, so maybe that's why it hasn't caught on to your fancy. But like Michele said, there was no stress on the shoulder (though I did sub the overheads with a dumbbell that was a lighter weight than my KB). If anything, I felt it's sort of a good stretch for the shoulder.
>Oh, and that's not my horse. I was up in Canada visiting Shelley.
How fun! And oh yeah, now that you mention it, I see that there's a buggy attached to that horse, which would be kind of weird if it was your horse LOL.
>My horses are much prettier.
I'm out of smilies, but I'd put one here if I could.
: )
DANA - OMG, look at your adorable new avatar!!! I love it!
>I told him how I liked playing with my dolls. And he says, "oh yeah, you had to knit your dolls, didn't you"? LMAO I told him, no, we did have REAL toys. Then he asks if I had to knit my clothes and if we had tv's "back then".
LMAO! The scary thing is, when I was a little kid, I had an 8-Track Player. And I can remember when we got this new-fangled thingy called The Microwave. I even remember when MTV started.
>I'm debating what I want to do tonight. Do I want to go to the new Target and buy a KB
BAAHAA! Oh yes, I definitely think you need to go and get yourself a KB. Definitely! So far I really, really like this new exercise.
>Anyone else who can't get into the workout manager? I did the first day but I can't anymore.
I haven't been back there since I checked it out the first day I was back, and on that day I could get in...
>next to their name you can "break friendship".
LOL. I thought it was funny that there is a list of people's names who came to look at your profile page. Also, what's with the star ratings for threads? Wacky!
Okay, nap time! Have a great weekend everyone!

(Ohhh, the shame of having to resort to such smilies! LOL)
