HATE - Feb 21

August

Cathlete
Good morning good muffin!

Today was leg day. But no booing here! Why? I've given up lunges and squats. All this last week, my left knee was sort of bugging me after I did some lunges and squats from last week, and, I know you've heard me say this about a kzillion times, but I ain't doin' them anymore. No! }(

So today I did the leg drills from Kick Max, plus the standing/floor stuff from Legs & Glutes. It turned out to be a pretty nice leg workout! Yay for leg day! Yay for leg day!

Well, maybe not yay, but not boo, anyway. :*

I also made a killing on my radishes from the Stalk Market, and was able to pay a good chunk of my loan back to Mr. Raccoon. :D

Mariah - The 18-min Pilates workout I use from time to time is called Winsor Pilates Buns & Thighs. If you've got space to lay on your side on the floor and put your leg out in front of you and behind (as far as it will go), you should try this one out. It's so easy yet effective (for me)...LOL, you've got a pee story that is an "adult" one, eh? That must be a pretty good story!...Do you have plans to celebrate your decade of sobriety? That is wonderful. Congratulations...Oh, gawd, levitations from Core Max (insert eye roll here)! WTH is that?! All I can do is laugh when I try those things...Your joint rolling out on the table story is incredible! That also sounds like something from a movie. That and Michele's pee story could easily be in the same movie!

Michele - Lucky you to no longer have to deal with the monthly thing. The only real enjoyment one can get out of it is that when you have it, you can easily convince yourself that you "need" to rest, or "need" to eat this or that. Or if there's something you don't want to do, it's TTOM, so you "can't." That is really the joy of monthly womanhood, isn't it?...I'm glad to hear that DH is safe at home and now you'll be able to get some good sleep. To help you out, I've been having really regular, good sleep. :D

LMAO, WTH is King Cake? Whatever it is, I think I want a royal slice of it.

Arista - Did you enjoy your day of Bleck? I did. Were you able to get to the store to buy some healthy things and flowers?...I'm not even going to talk about the 1/2 pound of TTOM water weight you think you gained, you nut.

Dana - I am soooooo with you on the mayo. I didn't think there was anyone else in the world who hates mayo. I'm so happy to find it's you!...The weather has been strange over here in Tokyo, but mostly sunny and very pretty, just a chilly wind....How long is Lent? That's admirable of you to follow it so diligently by adding on coffee and Pepsi to the list of sinfuls, oh, and also yelling. For Lent you can choose what things you want to give up?...Oh yeahhhhh, marijuana butter man! It's soooooo goooooooood, yeahhhhhh. LOL. Wow, if you're gonna be caught with a huge bag of smoke, what a loser way to do it DOH! I don't suppose he tells his friends that story as it being his "embarrassing moment"...Yeah, there are lots of mixed reviews on the other Winsor DVDs, but the Buns & Thighs one seems to be really well liked and a big winner.

LOL, yeah, what's the deal - was it Donut Day or Pancake Day?...OMG, I'm reading Michele's link and I see Lent is 40 days. Holy mole!

Shelley - You, too, on the Lent?! Are you going for 4...40 days?!

Robin - Great news about Greyor! Everyone must be so excited to get him back home. Is DH feeling better, too?

Jen - Your concert pee situation sounded so justified! They shouldn't throw you out for that. I mean, we're talking bladder infection possibilities!..The construction upstairs is totally quiet. It's actually kind of strange quiet. I mean, I can hear footsteps now and then, and there's a bit of hammering every now and then, but it's so nothing. A few years ago they did major construction in the entire building - putting in new piping in all of the rooms and stuff. The construction lasted over half a year and almost drove me to insanity. Really, the drilling every day was so loud that I was unable to hear my phone ring, let alone do ANYTHING. And the drilling would start at an hour when I would still be asleep, so I would be woken with a jolt almost every morning. There were always men walking outside on my balcony, too, yelling up to other guys on different floors to bring them whatever tools they needed. I really was ready to kill. And to make matters worse, these guys would not have looked good in sequin outfits, and I doubt highly that they could pull off a decent Running Man.

Speaking of pot, I'm drinking some Yogi herb tea that someone gave me and it tastes like a mixture of pot and dried oregano. I can't say I love it. Okay, I can't even say I like it. LOL.

All right you Haters, I'm off to work.

Have a nice day and chat with you later! :) :) :)

Since posting, I've been thinking about ants......and I thought, why am I thinking about ants?

Then I realized I'd forgotten to ask Michele if the terminators had finally come to her place or not.

P.S. Okay. Now there's drilling. x(

<<I also made a killing on my radishes from the Stalk Market, and was able to pay a good chunk of my loan back to Mr. Raccoon.>>

LMAO!! WTH? I won't ask. Nintendo, I presume... Or else you've been eating some pot butter! LOL

Mariah's joint story cracked me up too! OMG, that could've been really bad! Definitely Hollywood material there.

Good for you on giving up the lunges and squats! Its definitely the smart thing to do. No reason to risk permanent injury when there are plenty of ways to keep those muscles strong.

My knees did bother me at one time too, when I was doing too much stepping. Now that I'm desperately out of shape, those pains are gone!! ha ha :)

Here's the funny thing about my half a pound that I gained this morning: My scale (its a body-fat scale), said that my body fat was 13% and the percentage of water in my body was 76%! Usually, I'm somewhere around 21% body fat (which I know is still too low), and my water percentage is around 68%. Needless to say, all the alcohol and salt I ate yesterday (and TTOM) made me puff up like a balloon! 13% body fat - that would be something!

I agree August, that is the ONLY good thing about TTOM (except the fact that I know I'm not pregnant :D ) - you get to use it as your excuse for what you eat, what you DON'T workout, etc... I could do without it though, personally!

I'm glad to hear the drilling has been minimal August. That 6-month round of pipe-replacing must've been so awful! I hate having my privacy invaded... guys on your balcony? That's not good. Even if they were sequin worthy.

OK, I have to go, my laptop's about to die and I'm too lazy to get out of bed. Bye. See ya in the morning all. ;-)

>Or else you've been eating some pot butter!

LMAO!

Wow, how can I get my Tanita to tell me I'm 13%? That would be photo-worthy. I mean, the reading on the monitor, not of me standing on the scale. :)

LOL about you and your computer battery and being too lazy to get out of bed to rev it up. I've been there. Many times. Now thankfully, I have my Nintendo to keep me company in bed. Though it's not as warm. :*

Have a great sleep!

Good morning haters.

August, that killing you made on the Stalk Market is good news. I'd hate to see Mr Raccoon have to kneecap you for the $$ you owe him. Now that would be a good excuse to stop lunges and squats.

Arista, I have no idea what my body fat is. I had it measured with calipers years ago. I was under the impression that the scales weren't very accurate. I've considered buying some calipers, but then I think I'm just better off not knowing. The scale is already mean enough to me. I'd hate to be a slave of another number.

Today is ME for me, but not until much later, after work. I'll be back then to catch up with all the rest of you.

Have a happy day of reflection and re-committment. Oh, that sounds so serious.

Morning girls!

August - yup, me too with the Lent. I always give something up. Of course, it means I don't get my pre-breakfast cookie or my delicious hot chocolate this morning. Maybe I should rethink this and give up bashing myself in the head with a hammer instead.

Arista - 13%? Wouldn't that be awesome?? I sure didn't want to get out of bed this morning either. My female dog gets me up at 5:30 every single day, even weekends. At least on weekends I can go back to bed after I take the hounds out.

I'll bbl to check up on you crazies;)

Good Wednesday morning haters!

Mariah – OMG that story is the funniest. You were so lucky, huh? I’m 32 and I have 2 boys, 5 ½ and 17 months and I was never fat until I had them. I know, I know, I shouldn’t use my children as an excuse for my fatness. In my opinion, I need to lose between 40-46 lbs. So of course I’m joining in on the 5lb mini goal!!! I’m going to weigh myself on March 1st to see if I took off 5. I do feel strong and I’m sure that there is muscle under my layers of blob. LOL

Arista – of course no one will be offended if you observe Lent. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school for 9 years. I am raising my boys Catholic – it will be their choice when they are older if they choose to follow a different path. How are you feeling today? I know the first few days of TTOM you feel like poop! Is it a nice sunny day on the west coast? Hope you can go out with the pups and enjoy the day!

Jen – hey! Is your computer (at work) working today? I bet that they had that taken care of ASAP, no slacking for you. LOL. What’s on your agenda for tonight? Oh, I brought in the Brick Oven for lunch. I’ll let you know if the mushroom one is good.

August - ^5 on the mayo. Bleck!! If I order a sandwich and they accidentally put mayo on it, I cannot eat it. The taste and the texture of it is totally disgusting. I think you made a wise choice w/eliminating the lunges and squats. You’re smart to stop them know before you do damage. And if the other LB exercises are working, who are you to complain?

Michele – so, do tell – did Mr. Ant Killer show up? They should give you a discount for making you wait around the house like that.

Shelley – you run 1 mile in 10 minutes?!?!?!?!? That is amazing! What’s up w/you today? Oh yeah, you did say you were doing ME w/Robin, right?

Robin – what wonderful news about Greyor!! Have fun doing ME tonight – that’s a good one and the time always go so quickly. What did you end up buying yesterday? You never did say.

Last night I ended up doing the all step premix from Cardio Fusion. I never did that one before – kinda tricky for me. Sometimes I wonder if I’m even getting anything out of the workout b/c I’m stumbling trying to figure out the steps. Probably would get more out of just doing HIIT on the elliptical.

If any of you like cabbage, I made this last night (from my new WW cookbook) and it was so good.

Red Cabbage with Ginger
2 tsp olive oil
2 tbsp peeled, minced ginger
½ of an onion, thinly sliced
2/3 cup of chicken broth
4 cups red cabbage – thinly sliced

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet, sauté the ginger & onion for about 1 minute, add the chicken broth & cabbage, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Season w/salt & pepper. Makes 4 servings, 53 calories/serving. 1 point on WW

Tonight will have to be LB. Yuck! I feel horrible today. My DH gave me his cold. No coffee but did have 2 cups of tea – just not the same as a cup of coffee.

Have a great day and I’ll check back with you all later! :)

Robin - Don't bother getting calipers or a scale that will tell you your body fat. Man almighty all you'll ever read about those scales is that they're never right so you should get the calipers, and then all you'll ever read about the calipers is that they're never right so don't get them at all.

Shelley - I've read something about some delicious healthy breakfast cookie on a lot of fitness/lifting sites....have you heard about it and have you tried it?

Dana - You brought in a brick oven to work?! LOL. Just kidding...Oh yeah, major scraping cannot take the mayo off a sandwich. I'm so with you....That cabbage soup sounds really good. But then there's the chicken broth problem again for me LMAO...Wasn't there a famous commercial that used the phrase "Good morning, Good muffin!" ? No? Was it a donut commercial? No?

I fear for Michele. Could she have been taken over by hungry mini ants?

Hi Shelley - My dogs wake me up at 5:30 (or earlier) every day too. In the summertime that's fine because its already light out and I like to get up early. This morning though, they got me up at 3:30 (just in time for me to realize TTOM had started) and I was doubled over with cramps until 7:30 this morning! I hope you're having a better morning. I love pre-breakfast cookies!

Dana - Nope, its dreary over here. But I feel better than I did yesterday, by a little. I think I'll try to get out for at least a 30 minute walk with the pups, and then some Cathe after that. How's your weather? Good job on the coffee!! I give it up every now and then, but I just love it so... I always go back to Joe. Welcome to the 5# challenge! I think shooting for a March 1st date is great. Now that I've given up alcohol and sweets - no problem! (I hope)

August - That's what I've read about scales and calipers too, but I just had to get one. I bought a no-name brand off Ebay that alot of people had already bought and liked (according to the feedback), but I never get a fat reading higher than 22 and I just don't buy it. But I think the weight reading is accurate... unfortunately!

Robin - Have a super day! Enjoy ME.

I'd better start my day...BBL :*

Goooooooooooood MORNing!

I can't breathe! I'm coughing and sneezing like nobody's business and I'm so ready for this cold to be over. I'm sipping a lovely cup of hot green tea with orange honey from Italy. Ahhhhh:9

The ants seem to have vanished and I've made nice with the exterminator, so, Shelley, I'd like to call off the hit, kay? No bludgeoning is necessary, and I'm thinking long and hard about what my Lenten penance should be for putting a contract out on the bug man.

I tried cardio last night but, since breathing is a requirement for that type of activity, I wasn't able to complete the workout. It's not going to happen today, either.

August, good for you for coming up with an alternative leg day workout! I agree that you need to avoid any activity that produces pain, especially knee pain. I've been wanting to try the leg drills from Kick Max. How hard are they? They looked pretty intense to me.

>>I also made a killing on my radishes from the Stalk Market, and was able to pay a good chunk of my loan back to Mr. Raccoon. :D<<

ROTFLMAO!! ROTFLMAO!! ROTFLMAO!! I'm seriously considering buying that Nintendo thingy.

I just want to let y'all in on a little secret. When you get to be my age you no longer need to rely on TTOM as an excuse for anything. By age 50 you pretty much throw caution to the wind and start doing whatever you d*mn well please. And for some inexplicable reason, you become bold as brass and you're liable to speak your mind with complete and utter disregard for the consequences  }( :p

KING CAKE!!}( :9 }( :9 . There are many different recipes for King Cake, which dates back to at least the 18th century. My grocery store bakes them fresh and they are to die for. They're kind of like a giant danish and you can get them plain or with cheese or fruit fillings. They're drizzled with a glaze and sprinkled with purple, green, and gold sugar (the colors have some significance but I don't recall right off what they stand for). They also put a plastic baby Jesus on the cake somewhere, and whoever gets the piece with Jesus has to do...has to do...has to do something or other...I can't remember but I'm sure you could find out if you Google King Cake.

Gosh August, I hope the drilling doesn't last too long.

>>OK, I have to go, my laptop's about to die and I'm too lazy to get out of bed. Bye. See ya in the morning all.<<

Arista, I can relate to that remark, especially today. UGH! There's nothing like a cold to completely suck your energy dry.;(

I think we need to hold an annual Scale Smashing Day.

Robin, I'm with you on the whole body fat measurement issue. I'd really rather not know. How about we commit to not knowing body fat % or weight. :p

It is taking me FOREVER to type this post!

>>Maybe I should rethink this and give up bashing myself in the head with a hammer instead.<<

Shelley, knowing you has brought new meaning to the old saying, "They broke the mold when they made you", --LMAO!

Robin and Shelley, today is all about ME, and I'm not talking about Muscle Endurance :p

Dana, they DID give me a discount -- part of the reason I want to call off the hit.

I'm so impressed you did Cardio Fusion -- good for you, Dana!

That recipe looks great. I love red cabbage -- thanks for posting the recipe:*

Jen, Terri, Diane, and all -- hello to you!

I'm going to take a nap. I'll BBL :* :*

>>I fear for Michele. Could she have been taken over by hungry mini ants?<<

ROTFLMAO! I'm here. I'm here. You and Arista posted while I was posting. I'm slow as molasses today. I tink it's cuz I hab a code...cough...snort...gulp...achoo!

Michele - I didn't do the entire Cardio Fusion. Just the 48 minute pre-mix. Good Lord I'd keel over if I did the whole DVD. Bye-
Bye to the ants! Your tea sounds really soothing. Hope you feel better soon!

August - one of these days you may get a special delivery of chicken broth. LOL Can something like that even be sent to Japan from the states?

Arista - it is nice here. About 40 degrees and sunny, the snow is melting. I should've went for a walk during lunch but there is still so much snow, there really isn't anywhere to walk.

I am so tired. I need coffee. LOL Wonder how I"m going to feel after 40 days. I have at least 5 caffienated drinks a day.

The brick oven mushroom pizza was delish!

Tonight I"m making shrimp scampi from the WW cookbook. August, sorry but this one uses chicken broth too (in place of the butter).

I need a nap. :(

Friday night, my DH and Gabe wanted to eat at McDonald's so I was outvoted. Gabe set off the fire alarm. HAAAA!!! DH told him that it was the door to the bathroom (he did think it was) and when Gabe opened the door, which was the emergency exit, he set the thing off. Don't know why I just thought of it.

Well, back to work. My lunch is over.

Have a great day all.

Hi again -

Dana - I hear you on the snow. I'm not a big snow gal myself (unless I'm snowboarding on it.) Good job on the Cardio Fusion... 48 minutes is alot. And you just gave me a great idea for lunch... WW linguine pasta with chicken broth, broccoli, and turkey cutlets with parmesan. Yum!

I ended up going running with the girls before breakfast and on the way home from our run, we found this huge Malamute/Husky dog sitting on the side of the road, just hangin' out. So we put him on a leash and brought him home. The animal rescue people knew who he belonged to (he had a microchip), so I feel really good that I grabbed him. That was my good-deed-for-the-first-day-of-Lent thing.

And I haven't had any sweets yet (still too early to be craving a glass of wine). But I feel strong. Thanks for the challenge idea gals!

Terri - I just remembered that you had asked me to check out your website. I'd love to! Just post the link to it and I'll give it a once-over tonight. Anything in particular that you want me to look at?

BBL... back to work!

You girls are all nutz

just in from work but had to see how the ant story, the carpenter story, the no wine (or is that whine) story, the TTOM story (which i dont even know what it is), the ME story (which i just figured out was muscle endurance) Pot butter, peeing, or whatever may have been discussed while i was at work

My family could be on tv

my mother went in the hosp 2 weeks ago, my grandson went in, he came out, she came out, My daughter had surgery on her throat, cancer, which 3 years ago they removed her thyroid, she is ok, .. Now today, mother is home from hosp but had a really bad couple of days so arrangemen ts made to put her in a nursing home for 0 days to see if they can get her healthier, (She is in ny im in fla my brother is in fla) my oldest daughter is adopting a baby with her partner, and the baby arrived today from Katchzan (Somewhere near Russia) My second daughter (the one with the cancer) is arriving here next wed to do a 10 day vacation with me, and bringing her mother-in-law, just called to tell me there was an explosion in the plant where her husband works and she is rushing to the hospital (Detroit) 2 men badly burnt and one man bumped his head (acording to the tv news) my son-in-law is the one with the bumped head ???? Bumped head,, he has 27 staples in his head, and they have to do cat scans etc to see how deep the cut went
so now im off to have a cup of coffee, decide what im doing for exersize, and then make calls again to everyone

Good evening haters, tonight was my night off-hence the reason I'm here earlier than normal. I may be MIA tomorrow evening though, I have a meeting at work until 5 so I won't even start working out until around 5:30-6 so it'll be a late evening for me.

Arista- Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things I've ever done. It is so addictive, I could've slapped myself for ever starting in the first place. I smoked for ten years. How long did you smoke? I am Catholic also... baptised, raised, and confirmed. Sounds like a lot of us are! Is it bad that I want to give up stuff I don't have on a regular basis anyway....like red meat & bread?!?!

August- I KNOW! Exactly what I thought about the pee incident! Ugh, for your sake I hope this time around is better w/ the construction... especially if the guys aren't even worth looking at! See, you DO LIKE DOING LEGS!! I prefer legs ten times to one to cardio.

Robin- How was ME? How is Greyor doing, home yet?

Shelley- I think the giving up bashing yourself in the head is good for lent... or maybe just not being so hard on yourself... What do you think? If you give it a shot, I'll give it a shot... what do you say, huh? :)

Dana- What really stinks is that when stuff goes wrong at work it really doesn't effect anyone but me... my boss didn't even know until the next day I don't think. It is basically up to me to "take care of it" when stuff like that happens, I mean I don't have to fix it but knowing who to call & figuring out a way to do my job until it's fixed is all my problem. I work on commision so when something goes wrong it really only effects me, kind of stinks but oh well. Wells Fargo is a great company to work for so I really can't complain too much. So, how is that version of cardio fusion? I have it but never have done it...I am really challenged when it comes to learning routines so that & BM2 I'm still trying to figure out. I think I may have BM2 down now... How are you feeling? Everyone at work is sick too, sinus infections, ear infections, etc... I wish they'd stay home. I have a horrible sinus headache tonight. You really need to try the bbq chicken & roasted garlic chicken pizza too, they are so good!

Michele- Sorry you are feeling so bad, at least it's an excuse not to workout & you have your DH home to take care of you!

Mariah- OH MY GOD, your story was making my head spin just trying to keep up, wow- I will say a prayer or ten for your dear family. I hope things start going in the right direction for you.

Okay, well I am not feeling that great-not horrible-but not great either. I have the worst sinus headache. Think I am going to make it an early dinner tonight and to bed by 8ish...hopefully. I will for sure have to pop some Unisom to make that happen but at this point it needs to happen b/c work tomorrow isn't going to be any better.

I'll probably BBL before dosing off- if I don't have time to stop in tomorrow evening I'll catch you all FRIDAY NIGHT!!!! YIPPEE tomorrow is Friday eve... I am so ready for the weekend, I think I may just sleep all day Saturday...after I workout, of course! x(

Goodevening all.

ME was tough. Everytime I do it I think,"Hmmm, this is easier than the last time." Then I hit the wall and struggle to finish it. I did pretty well avoiding snacks at work and while cooking dinner. Now I have to work on after dinner, while cleaning up the kitchen. I had a minor chocolate/PB binge. Oh well, tomarrow is another, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Mariah, wow, what a life. No wonder you turned to alcohol. Hugs and prayers to you and your family. By the way, you asked about measuring improvements due to workouts. Well, I think the biggest benefit of working out is the stress relief. With my own crazy life when my mentally challenged son was living with us, I'd have probably been suicidal without exercise.

Jen, I hope your headache clears up quickly. I was a smoker too, but not for long. I met my future DH in college and he asked me to quit. I had only smoked a couple years.

Arista, good job with the dog. I'm glad it was so easy to find his owner. One good deed done, 39 to go.

Michele, I get the impression you did a random act of kindness for someone we both know and love. Good for you!

I'm thinking maybe a nice warm bath will feel good. Then early to bed with a book or my new Gourmet magazine. Night all.

{{{{{{{{{{Mariah}}}}}}}}}}. I will keep you and your family close in prayer. When it rains it sure does pour, doesn't it. You take care of yourself, young lady!

{{{{{{{{{{Jen}}}}}}}}}}, I'm sorry about your sinus headache. I took some Sudafed and I'm feeling better this evening, but I've blown enough snot out of my nose to fill a gallon size jug today;( . Maybe that's why my head feels better--lol! Yes, you should definitely go to bed early. Rest is the best medicine...and fluids;) --Oh, and you can give up whatever you want. I always only give up things I don't like}( .

Arista, congratulations on quitting smoking! I quit years ago and I'm to the point now where I can't even stand to be around it at all.

Robin, I just got the new Gourmet, too. Cooking magazines will be my downfall:eek: . I love the picture on the cover (hash browns - this would be in keeping with my plan for filthy eating}( ). Minor binges are okay--don't sweat the small stuff!

Okay, I'm off to scrounge up something most unclean for dinner}( Filthy eating is what I like to call it. It's good, but it's even MORE good than just unclean}(

Michelle and Jen
a hint
for years i suffered with sinus problems, someone turned me onto an over the counter product called U-R-Sinus it was wonderful and took care of the headache immediately. Then it went off the market. not enough advertising i guess. But i tried everything on the market finally i asked the pharmacist why tht used to work when the others done. Aspirin, not tylenol but asprin.
So now i take 2 sinus pills with one asprin and Voila!!!
Do give it a try

Robin- Avoiding snacking is so hard to do when you work around people who constantly bring in stuff...like GS cookies, candy jars, etc..., etc... I wish there was a rule about no food in the work place, LOL! Good for you about stopping smoking, it was the best thing I ever did. I am SOO glad I'm not still smoking, I never did smoke in my house or anything, would go outside but still, I couldn't have ever done Cathe!

Michele- Congrats to you also for stopping smoking! I am eating a brick oven bbq chicken pizza now, then no pudge brownie for dessert and then off to bed. Yeah, I read on the OD post that Shelley posted about you giving up everything you hated... I responded to you over there & said I'd give you a hard time today, so here is your hard time...LOL! I thought cookies & candy helped with a sinus infection...no??? }(

Mariah- Thanks for the information, I will have to stock up on that & give it a try, maybe I'll hit Walgreens on my way to the office tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good evening, talk later!
