I just wanted to start is. August, where are you? Idid this am, GS legs floor, 20 mins of abs and when I get back, I am doing slow and heavy legs and a stretch. How about you? Going on that big device?

Okay, so I am going to get the kids ready for school and come back for more. Isn't it 10 o'clock where you are?

Hi Ladies -

I started the routine from 5 Factor Fitness yesterday after work and did day 2 this morning. This is perfect for me right now because it doesn't take that long (25 min) and fits my schedule, and is easy enough for me to do. I really do have to focus on using heavy enough weights to go to failure. It is really hard for me to do that.

Good morning Kate, Diane, and all!

Yes Kate--I'm getting on that big device--lol!

Wow Kate! that's a lot of leg work! I bow to you. I could never do that much leg work in one day.

I miss August and Dana:-( ;( :-( ;( :-( ;(

Diane, I've been using Ouidad products on my hair for 2 or 3 years now and they are my favorite. I recently tried some Pureology products--the conditioner and a leave in cream called RealCurl-- and I liked them initially but found them to be too heavy, leaving a residue in my hair. The Ouidad stuff is very light and leaves no residue so I've gone back to it. I've tried just about everything imaginable but I always come back to Ouiddad. Here's the website: http://www.ouidad.com/

They also have a curl profile and if you fill it out online it will guide you to the products that are right for your hair. Check it out here: http://www.ouidad.com/cp.asp

I use Curl Quencher Shampoo and Conditioner, Botanical Boost Leave-In Conditioner, and then I use a gel and that varies depending on the season. I like the Climate Control Gel for hot humid weather a lot! I also like the Tress FX. The website will also give you thorough directions on how to use the products and how MUCH to use. I have very curly hair and the Ouidad line works very well for me MOST of the time. Look at the website and let me know what you think.

Oh! I also use the Deep Treatment. I LOVE this stuff. You only use it every couple of weeks. You put it on wet hair, put a plastic cap on, then sit under a dryer for a great hot conditioning treatment.

Janjan, how're things with DD? What did the doctor day?

Thanks Michele - I am confused about how about the whole process of how to style your hair. Do you follow this whole process? This is the part I am confused about.

After raking your fingers through your hair from the scalp to the ends, don’t let go of the ends right away. Hold on to them for a moment without actually pulling or over-stretching the hair. Then, gently shake the hair back and forth as you loosen your hold to allow curls to form once again.
Once you’ve applied your styling lotion, position your curls with duckbill clips. Allow to air dry completely or wait for about ten minutes and finish the process with a blowdryer with a diffuser attachment.

What are duckbill clicks and how do you "position your curls"??

Also, they recommend both a mousse and the climate control for my hair. I guess I am supposed to use the mousse when it is not humid (is that ever the case in Houston)??

Diane, there used to be a video on the website to demonstrate the whole process and I can't get it to play now. I tried to disable the pop-up blocker but that didn't help. I'll try to answer your questions but please feel free to call the salon or send an email. I emailed them once because I didn't know how to layer the products and they answered me in a day or two with complete instructions. I've also called the salon in New York and they were very nice and helpful.

My guess is that you are supposed to apply the mousse after the Climate Control Gel--in other words, you layer them.

If you go to the shopping page and scroll down towards the bottom you will see the duckbill clips. They're just long, slender metal clips. You'll recognize them the minute you see them.

As for the styling method--and this is where that video would come in handy--I don't always follow this to the letter. Actually, I rarely use the duckbill clips which are meant to keep your hair from looking flat on top.

I do rake my fingers through my hair, though. Think of it as using your fingers to comb your hair. When you reach the ends of your hair--visualize now that you have hair between your fingers--instead of letting go, give a gentle shake and THEN let go. This keeps strands of your hair together which will then form your curls. When I apply the styling lotion, I gently scrunch my hair.

I believe she sends out a booklet with each order that will show pictures of each step. It's really not complicated at all, just hard to grasp from the written word. You really need to see pictures.

I would definitely call or email them to clarify the products you need and in what order to apply them. Also, check the website to see if there's a Ouidad certified salon where you live. I wish we had one here;(

I know--not much help, was I. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Oh thanks. I actually have duckclips just didn't know what they were called. I was able to watch a slide show on how to style your hair. I may try some of these products once I get closer to finishing what I am currently using, as I already paid too much for what I have.

Dumb off topic question.

Do y'all wash your hair every day? I saw on the website for that product that they recommend washing hair every 2-3 days. And all my hairstylists have said to not wash every day because my hair gets dry from the highlighting. But if I am working out, I don't see how I wouldn't wash my hair every day. And even if I don't workout, it just feels gross. I have tried hair refresher sprays before and none of them make me feel clean.

I do not wash my hair every day. I wash mine about every other day and I only use shampoo about once a week. I literally wash my hair with conditioner. My hair is colored and highlighted and if I used shampoo on it everyday it would look like straw. Go ahead and wash it everyday if you need to, just cut waaaaay back on the shampooing and use tons of conditioner, and leave-in conditioner, and try not to use heated appliances too much. I usually let my hair air dry. If I need to, I'll use a diffuser on it but I don't dry it completely. I can't stress how important it is to use a TON of product. Condition, condition, CONDITION!!!

Michele - So when you say that you wash your hair with conditioner, do you actually use the conditioner on your scalp too like shampoo, or just the ends and getting the scalp wet? That is a really good idea, washing it but not using shampoo. I use heated appliances a lot when I don't wear it curly, which is about 1/2 of the time or more. But my boss makes fun of my hair curly! Calls me wet head when I come to work with it still damp. But I let it dry naturally and it is still a little damp when I get to work. He is so rude but doesn't realize it.

Ok, I am here..finally...been a long day. DD actually slept last night in her swing sitting up, but whatever....so, I got to sleep for about 9 hours but felt like crap this morning. Think it is stress.

Moving right along..Diane I only was every other day as well. I love the Paul Mitchell color care line, shampoo and condit are great and leave hair moisturized....oh wait....yeah, so I just went out side for the first time today...WHERE IS THE HUMIDITY???? Ohhh..it felt nice out side. Yes it was blistering hot, but who care no dang humidity!!! YEAH!!!! Back to what I was saying....Personally I use baby powder for my hair if needed on days I don't wash or it is up in a bun or pulled back with some hair spray. Hair spray and baby powder will get rid of grease if you have any.

I have waves, but in Texas, I don't even waste my time, too much trouble to mess with.

Does that help any??

Ok, need to eat..BBin a bit..

Thanks Jana. I don't really like my profile so try to where my hair down as much as possible. I also have a really narrow face, so looks better down. But I will try the baby powder idea for when I blow dry my hair straight and want to stretch it for two days.

It works quite well and it smells nice. There is a trick, section off your hair and then sprinkle a little at a time on the sections. It will add some volume to your hair as well. It only works for blondes, with dark hair it looks like you have gray hair.

Luckily I am blonde, though I added some low lights so I will have to make sure I don't look pastey.

Jana - Did you see the new kitten pics in my picturetrail? Just making sure. Oh, and by the way, Cosmos was adopted!

It would be so fun if we could all get together and have a salon day--lol!

Diane, I don't put too much conditioner directly onto my scalp. I get my hair soaking wet, vigorously massage my scalp with my fingertips and even my fingernails to stimulate my circulation, then apply conditioner from roots to ends.

I'd be careful about using baby powder on curly hair just because powder is drying and curly hair craves moisture.

Thanks Michele. A salon day would be fun! My curls are looking particularly bad today. Got to get some conditioner on it ASAP!

Yes I saw them, they are sooo cute!!! I forgot to tell you that the other day...my brain is MIA due to the whole sleep thing going on right now. I am glad Cosmos found a home! I really wanted him!
