Has anyone seen Damages on FX?

I can't believe I'm saying this but it seems like FX is the only channel putting out original programming that's really, well, original. I got totally hooked on Dirt & can't wait til season 2 starts.

Last night before I had to come back to work they re-ran one of the first epis of Damages (stars Glen Close & Ted Danson--BTW, how did he get all his hair back? }( ) at 5:00 pm. It sucked me in--the show looks unique, well-written, well-acted & unpredictable. I need the back story if anyone can give it please! :)

Laura, I saw a promo for the show but then forgot about it. I love Glen Close and like just about everything she does. Oh God, the last thing I need is to get sucked into another new show -- LMAO!

I got sucked into the Closer with Kyra Sedgwick. I love that show, too. It's character driven and kind of quirky. It's fun to watch and something my DH enjoys, too.

Cable is the place to go for good shows. The stuff on the networks is so boring.

I've Tivo'd (sp?) the second episode. The pilot episode will be tivo'd tomorrow I believe (love that they re-run these things). We just got Tivo Monday and got it hooked up. I don't know how I watched TV before. My best friend loved the pilot so I'm looking forward to watching my two shows based on her opinion alone. I actually know NOTHING about the premise for this series.

I absolutely LOVE this show. I'm a big fan of all the legal shows. I've watched the first 2 episodes and this is what I've gotten so far. The show is basically flashing back 6 months ago to show what has led up to Ellen - the new associate - running around with blood all over her and then being questioned by the police. Patty Hewes (Glen Close) is a big time litigation lawyer that new law graduates would give anything to work for. She is representing a group of employees that lost their pensions because the owner of the company - Mr. Frobisher (Ted Danson) did some shady business deals or sold out the stock or something like that. One of the key witnesses turns out to be Ellen's future sister-in-law who catered for Frobisher in Florida and now Frobisher has become her "investor" to get her restaurant started. Anyway that's just the first episode and I won't say anything else in case someone else hasn't seen the second one or the previews for next weeks (which look darn good!!).

Note: I'm going back to school to be a paralegal and that's why I'm so interested in all these legal thrillers.

Laura,

Is it too late to start watching it? Are there episodes you can watch from your computer? It looks really good.

Janie

The idea is to die young as late as possible

Janie, I think you can catch up. I'll check FX's website, sometimes they'll have marathons when they show all the epis in one night. I'm hoping to catch it myself.

OK Kim, I knew there was something smelly w/this Frobisher guy. Is Patty's future sis-in-law that blonde who had her dog killed? Who went into partnership w/Frobisher w/the restaurant? I can't figure out what's going on there--she's obviously being stalked & I'm guessing Mr. F is behind it but I don't know why he'd do it.

And why is Patty so nice? Is this all an act? I can't imagine a woman like her being a high powered, successful lawyer & still being so nice. She got Ellen that apartment, she got the blonde a new dog--what is her deal?

I saw the previews for next week w/Ellen in the police station covered in blood. I think it's pretty clear Ellen didn't kill her BF or husband or whatever he is.

Anyway, I love both Glen Close & Ted Danson, this show is probably a keeper!

LOVED the first episode, can't wait to see the second one (which is recorded and waiting for me). The writing is really fresh, Glenn Close is amazing, it's going to be a great series. Thank goodness there's SOMETHING great to watch this summer!

Yes that's the sister-in-law. Just take a guess at why Patty got her that new dog. She's not really that nice once you've seen the second episode. Frobisher basically set up the deal with the blonde to help her set up her restaurant for leverage against her so she wouln't or couldn't testify about what Frobisher thinks she saw in Florida. But she doesn't really know that she know's anything.

This is a show that I'm definately going to have trouble missing.

Another good one on FX is Rescue Me. I think it's a little more vulgar but it's still really good. It's on Wednesday nights at 9pm central time.

Yep! I have a season pass with the Tivo!

I swear, FX is the only channel worth watching anymore. With the exception of Lost, I don't watch network television anymore. Seems like the minute that you finally get into a show, they cancel it. Plus, everyone's terrified to get racy these days, thanks to the FCC...

I also love Dirt, Nip/Tuck!!
As a side note, I've discovered that "Burn Notice" on USA is a pretty good show. It's fun, and different than anything I've seen before.

Lauramax, sorry to detour but I'm always looking for shows to watch on my treadmill (I have to watch DVDs - no TV available). Do you think that Dirt would be a good one for this?

TIA
Carolyn

Yes and I love it!! I had just about given up on any decent prospects on TV so I am very excited about this one.

I think TiVo is wonderful!!!

I was just told about Damages and have TiVo'd it but haven't watched it yet.

Other shows I am absolutely addicted to are:

The Closer
Big Love
Weeds
Prison Break
Grey's Anatomy
Dexter (probably one of the best shows on television...it's brilliant!)
The Unit
Criminal Minds
The L Word

Now, it sounds like I'll probably have to add Damages to that list!

Fun shows to watch when there's time:

Work Out
Dr. 90210
Housewives of Orange County
Little People, Big World
Bridezillas (these women are scary!!!)
Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List

TiVo makes it so easy to watch tv! I *heart* TiVo!

Okay, I don't have Tivo (I don't think it's available here), so what night and time is Damages on, Laura?

I just checked the schedule and it looks like it's on Tuesday nights at 10 pm and repeats on Sunday night at 10 pm. Neat! I get home late, but I'll definitely be able to watch it at 10 pm.

Thanks, Lorie. For some reason my DH told me we can't have it. I'll have to find out what he was talking about. Makes no sense.

Which box did most of you buy?

I got one from my satellite company when I signed up. I am not really sure which one it is. It's so great!!! Tell your hubby you want one...NOW! :)

I just finished watching the first two episodes and all I can say is, "WOW!!!" What a great show.

I can tell it's going to be one of those with twists and turns every episode.

Of course my most favorite part was when Patty gave Katie the dog and Katie said how cute he was and Patty said, "He's a rescue." Way to promote rescue animals!!!
