Have any of you done the new WW - not the points one. What has your experience been - good, bad?

Thanks so much

Funny you should ask since I just came back from a WW meeting. I'm two weeks away from being a lifetime member. My total weight loss using the core plan has been 12.4 lbs. I hit my goal weight after losing 9.6 lbs but I've continued to lose a few more lbs, which is fine.

The core plan, IMO, is fantastic because it is nothing more than clean eating. There is no way I could constantly be figuring points and tracking them and be happy about it. It seems to me that very few people at the meetings I go to do the core plan because they feel restricted. Since I don't want to eat sugar or processed foods on a regular basis I'm not feeling deprived. On the core plan you get 5 points a day to use on non-core food and of course you can eat exercise points.

It took me about 3 1/2 months to lose the weight but I never went hungry. Whole, unprocessed foods are very satisfying and nutritious. I feel great!!!

Hope that helps
:) :)

I am a lifetime WW'er so I've been a point counter for a long time. After my two week vacation last year I tried the 'core plan' to take off the 9 (!) pounds I gained while I was away. Six of the nine dropped off very quickly but I had to go back to flex to lose the last 3. I would say the core plan worked with me fine but I just didn't feel confident enough in myself to eat 'until satisfied'. The premise of the core plan is to guide you to 'eating clean'. I pretty much eat clean anyway but need more accountability to myself because I need to watch my portion sizes. There are a lot of folks I know who are doing real well using core but I think the old plan is just too ingrained in me for me to change now!

Also, there is still a little point counting involved in the core plan if you eat anything not on the core foods list. You are allowed to have so many non-core points per week so it isn't totally devoid of counting. HTH!

hmmm...thanks. Sounds like both of you just had around 10 lbs to lose - would you recommend when trying to loose more? Trying to find something to jump start things.

My friend who did the core plan with me lost 20 lbs so it works.

Like TK said in the previous post, you have to exercise portion control if you want it to come off fast.

I never went hungry. If I wanted something sweet I ate fruit. Or I'd make some Jello sugar free fat free instant pudding. I eat tons and tons of vegetables. You can cook various ways like steaming, grilling and roasting. Vegetables with brown rice is a wonderful, filling snack.

I could go on and on because I love the core plan!

I just like the freedom of not keeping track of every bite of food. In addition to wanting to eat clean it's probably a personality thing too. I hate regimentation and that's what counting points is like to me.

I guess it would be helpful for me to add that I did WW about 2 years ago or so and lost 12 lbs then. I was 42 when my daughter was born and didn't lose the 22 extra lbs I gained while pregnant. When she was one year old I went to WW and used the point system. I lost 12 of the 22 lbs but counting food points drove me nuts. I maintained the 12 lb weight loss but didn't shed the last 10 until the core plan. And that was a piece of cake for me.

I hope that helps.

Well to add to my story a little, I became a lifetimer after losing 50 pounds. During my initial weight loss period, I had to mix things up every now and then to keep the scale going down. It's very easy to get into a routine of pretty much eating the same things every day and our bodies are just so darned adaptable! Things just would slow down or stop as my body would adjust it's metabolism to whatever I was feeding it. After struggling with a plateau, I started using the 'Wendie Plan', which is a variation of the flex plan. It's where you alternate high point days and low point days throughout the week to keep the metabolism guessing. I had good results with that. Also I had to change up my exercise routine every so often to keep things moving along too. Keep in mind that I'm a 46 year old peri-menopausal woman so I wasn't the fastest ship in the fleet when it came to losing weight! My average loss was just over a pound a week and only about two weeks out of every four I showed a loss. The other two weeks I either gained or maintained.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is that you do need to jump start things every now and then when it comes to weight loss. If only we could explain to our bodies that we're actually trying to get rid of excess weight! Darned evolution! HTH

Thanks so much for your info. My daughter (college freshman just home for the summer) joined today. I looked over the nonpoint version and you are right it's really about health foods. She is trying to jump start it with being extra strict at first.

Thanks a lot.

Boy I wish I could help w/ the recent version but I've been a lifetime member for about 13 years now. I lost 150 lbs back when I was 16. Suffice it to say, however they change the program, it always works!

I dont know much about the core plan, other than a lot of people have had a lot of success with it. My eating habits are awful, so on Flex, I can still eat some junk (biscuits, bacon, fruity pebbles) and still lose weight. I dont mind counting points, after about a month, you know most of the points. When I get groceries, I put pretzels in a baggie, and label how many points, so when I want a snack, I can grab one quick, and know the points. Same with the new nabisco 100 calorie snack packs...they are 2 points and really tasty.....Good luck! I have lost 28 lbs since the beginning of the year working out 4-5 days a week, and doing WW. This is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me. Good luck. I know a really good website for people on WW, it is www.dwlz.com.......lots of great info.

Thanks that's a great site. I really like the core plan - yes great clean eating. My daughter started Weds and to support her we are all eating healthy. I'm not trying to lose weight so I still have some butter but all the clean eating is great.

Thx SO much for the info
