Has anybody followed The Schwarzbein Principle?

I was wondering if anybody has any input on Diane Schwarzbein books, The Schwarzbein Principle and her follow up book The Transition? Hubby and I went to Border's Friday and I read parts of both books. From what I read, it seemed like sound advice, although some of her ideas sounded a bit strict. I didn't get to read very much, but wondered is any of you guys have found the book helpful? TIA!:7

Hi Sherry,

I have this book and am half way through it. It is very sound advice, I was especially interested in her research with diabetics since this runs in my family. It appears to be on the same principle of Body for Life, Adkins and even Physique Transformation where you are incorporating ratios of protein/carbs/fats based on your body makeup, activity level, etc. and go through a conditioning and fat loss phases. Personally, the program I am currently on uses all of these themes and they have worked for me. I have plateued a couple of times but have been able to bring down my weight. I'm about 15-20 pounds from my goal and feel confident that I will succeed. If I've learned anything from all this reading is that I have educated myself to listen to my body. I eat when I need to eat, as clean as possible and I manage to workout 4-6 times a week and believe this is not easy with my work schedule. Hope this helps! How's the grand baby?

Take care Sherry.

Hi Iris,
I didn't really get into great depth because I just read parts of the book. I'm not really looking at a diet for weightloss, but just a healthy diet. I was really impressed with her view on HRT. I had a breast biopsy last Dec. that came back pre-cancerous, so I quit taking my Estradiol. Her view is that it is imperative to take HRT. I'm telling you, I haven't felt the same since I went off of it. I'm going to go back on it and get the book and follow it as closely as I can. A lot of her points did seem to be valid. I have never read any other nutrition book, but this one caught my attention. Thank you for responding.
I think the grand baby is just fine. I've been sleeping all morning!

Iris, I wanted to let you know what a positive force you are to this forum. Anytime I see a thread you posted, I always make sure to read it. You seem like such a positive, upbeat person, I love hearing what you have to say!:D Thanks for the advice on the book and keep on a postin!
(((((hugs)))))

Sherry, you are too kind for words. Thank you for lovely words, guess life has taught me many lessons, many of them not pretty and now I try to incorporate them in my life and maybe, just maybe help someone along the way. I could write volumes! Regarding HRT - have you spoken with your doctor about this. I also had problems with HRT in the beginning. After a couple of years of tweaking we finally came up with the right combination. I use a patch, once a week and the change (no pun intended) has been dramatic. May I suggest that you talk about with your doctor - it's called Climara and my dosage is
1.0

You are by far a great role model Sherry - don't underestimate yourself. You look wonderful - you should be very proud of yourself, and your grand child will reap the rewards by having a fit, great looking nana.

Take care sweetie,

Iris

Ages ago i posted on this site screaming "buy this book, it rocks" and now, months on, it still rocks! I got this book 1st Jan 03, put the principles into practice and now, 6 months on im so lean. Never hungry, eating all the time, 3 meals, 2 snacks. I have both books and can honestly say, only book 1 is worth reading. Give it a go, it really is one of the best, nutrition plans i've ever been on.
